Mexican FX-05 assault rifle family, in addition to the models in the picture, there are standard and short assault rifle types. The picture looks like a class A machine gun, but the carbine below is actually a standard one. The real carbine-type wooden guard has only three cooling holes, but the text is FX-05 "Fire Snake" (Emerald Snake)
FX-05 assault rifle, FX stands for "Fire Snake". Creatures in Mexican folklore are used on rifles to symbolize aggression, and 05 is the design year.
Speaking of this Mexican FX-05 assault rifle, isn't it HK's G36 assault rifle at first glance?
Indeed, FX-05 assault rifle was based on G36 rifle at the beginning of its design. Accurately speaking, Mexico originally wanted to directly copy the G36 rifle of HK company, but since it is the work of HK company, it will be copied directly = see you in court, so it was independently modified on the basis of G36 rifle step by step ...... Although FX-05 looks very similar to G36 rifle, it is roughly estimated that 65-75% is the design of G36 rifle.
The relationship between FX-05 and G36 is almost the same as that between cassette rifle and 8 1 rifle, but the appearance is more similar and the automaton is basically the same. Although the blood relationship is deep, it is not a complete imitation.
Before the design of FX-05 rifle was finalized, the timeline was March 2004, and a few years earlier before 2005. Mexico imported some production equipment and technology about G36 rifles from Germany, and then bought some patents about G36 rifles from HK company. At the same time, at that time, some departments in the Mexican army also circulated the idea and suggestion of wanting a new rifle to replace the old G3 automatic rifle, which was adopted by the top. But somehow, Mexico has no legal right to produce G36 rifles locally.
In a word, the Mexican military wants a new rifle, and it has only three options:
The first one is to buy G36 directly from HK Company.
The second is to buy a legally authorized G36 production line from HK company and produce G36 by ourselves.
The third is to get a new assault rifle according to the blueprint of imitation G36 rifle.
The result is obvious. Mexico calculated an account and found that the third option was the most cost-effective, so today's "Firesnake" FX-05 assault rifle came into being.
Telescopic folding bracket, from the back, we can know that the disassembly method of FX-05 rifle is similar to G36. First remove the magazine, then remove the stock, pull out the reentry spring parts, remove the guard wood, remove the launcher, and finally take out the automaton.
During the development process, the Mexican conventional military and light weapons design team participated in the design, and some private design teams also participated in the project. The project is progressing rapidly. It is said that FX-05 assault rifle and other types of guns evolved from FX-05 were completed in only 16 months, forming a gun family.
In design, FX-05 is based on G36 and is also a plastic gun. Many parts, such as case, magazine and stock, are made of polymers. In the sample gun test, military soldiers reported that the gun was too smooth to hold, so the design team designed a shape and use that was more in line with the human operation of Mexican soldiers, mainly by redesigning the grip, adding anti-slip lines to the grip and the guard wood, and using a knob reducer.
As for the internal structure and principle of FX-05, Mexico has not made it public, and there are only a few scattered pictures on the Internet, which is still unclear.
What is certain, however, is that the FX-05 air guide system, which has been formally finalized, adopts the long piston air guide type, with the compound spring in front (refer to SG550S and AR70). Some data also show that FX-05 before finalization adopts short piston air guide type.
Disassembly drawing of FX05 rifle. In this picture, the upper right is the automatic machine of the gun, so it can be seen that the air guide system is a short piston.
In the official video above, you can see that the FX-05 rifle is definitely a short piston air guide.

The automaton of FX-05 assault rifle is basically a mobile G36 rifle, a square rotary multi-convex bamboo shoot gun with a gun rack and AR system. Except that the gun rack has a piston, a compound spring and a servo handle similar to SCAR, there is no difference. Like G36, the shell is made of plastic inlaid steel shell.
FX05 is assembled in the workshop. This is the FX-05 rifle that is formally finalized and produced. It can be seen that it is a long piston air guide type, and its compound spring is in front.
The mechanical sight of FX05 rifle.
The case of FX-05 rifle has a section of picatinny rail, which can support it to install mechanical sight or other suitable sight. The standard of FX-05 rifle is an integrated fixed sight handle copied from G36. There is also a section of guide rail on both sides of the guard wood.
Speaking of launchers, the launchers of FX-05 are also related to the heirloom launchers of G36 rifles.
The firing mode of FX05 is the same as that of G36 rifle in terms of the layout and position of hammer body, trigger, automatic stopper, reducer and empty bin hanger, but compared with HK rifle, FX05 is too simplified.
In fact, the whole FX-05 rifle is a cheap simplified version of the black hole G36 rifle.

Mexico has also developed related accessories for the FX-05 gun family, such as bayonets, 40mm caliber Grenade launchers, and multi-functional grips.

Fully equipped FX-05 rifle.
From 2005 to 2006, Mexico completed the design and production of FX05 rifle, which was displayed in the military parade on September 16, 2006.
The last model developed by FX-05 gun family, PAX- 100 submachine gun (short assault rifle), is smaller/shorter than carbine.
According to the Mexican military, the FX-05 gun family plans to become a new generation of rifles. According to the ideal of the plan, about 12 1000 FX-05 rifles will be produced from 20 13 to 20 18 * *, and the minimum standard six-year plan is to produce at least 10000 rifles every year within six years.
This year is 202 1, and the FX-05 rifle was discontinued as planned.
But from the current point of view, it is certain that this plan of the Mexican side has obviously not been realized in quantity. Because the appearance rate of FX-05 guns in the Mexican army is surprisingly low, I found videos about the Mexican army and special police that can be found online, whether the Mexican army should use G3 or G3 rifles, or import AR rifles, and so on. , but FX-05 did not appear.
The Mexican army has more than 400,000 people on land, sea and air, plus reserves. By the end of 2065,438+04, the army had144,000 people.
According to the ideal plan, FX-05 rifle is almost one person in the army. There are 60 thousand rifles according to the minimum requirements, and the attendance rate can't be so low. Now, the FX-05 cannon family will only appear on a large scale in military parade.
In 2020, it is rare to see photos of Mexican soldiers using FX-05 assault rifles, which are equipped with sights and grips.
Regarding the appearance rate of FX-05 rifles, the Wipaco Design Bureau believes that it is a problem to reduce the standard 60,000 rifles planned by Mexico by nearly half, and whether to produce about 40,000 FX-05 rifles ... The current situation is obviously that it has not really replaced the new generation of combat rifles.
It is also interesting that HK Company of Germany planned to sue Mexico for copying G36 rifles when it was developing FX05 rifles. After sending someone to observe, it gave up the lawsuit because the FX05 rifle is different from the G36 rifle.
But to be honest, HK will not suffer from the copy of FX-05 rifle from the whole G36 rifle, and it also has a great chance of winning. As for why we didn't tell ... Mexico itself is actually one of Hong Kong's biggest customers. Of course, the details are unknown.
Later, it was said that Mexico wanted to make a FX- 10 gun family plan based on FX-05 gun family, but it failed.
Finally, summarize and evaluate the FX-05 rifle/gun family in Mexico. First of all, Mexico's evaluation has two main points, which are also the focus of the FX-05 rifle R&D team's video, namely "the world's advanced level rifle" and "the domestic self-developed rifle".
There are already two points, one by one.
On the "world advanced level rifle", FX-05 gun family is actually not an advanced level rifle, but also an imported product. Naturally, it is not as good as those excellent guns developed by developed countries, but FX-05 gun family is not backward, so it is above average in the world level.
After all, Mexico's available resources are not only very limited, but as far as light weapons are concerned, it has always relied on the introduction of production lines, local production of foreign firearms, or imitation purchase of foreign firearms, and little experience in self-research of light weapons.
On the "domestic self-developed rifle", FX-05 is not completely self-developed. This can be seen not only from the shape of the weapon, but also from the front of the article. Mexico bought some equipment for G36 production and some patents on G36, which can't be considered as completely independent research and development. But it should also be combined with Mexico's national conditions. Compared with the previous operation, FX-05 can also be regarded as a selective "self-research" in Mexico.
On the whole. FX-05 rifle can be regarded as a cheap and simplified poor version of G36.
In the overall design/structure of G36 rifle, the structure can be simplified as much as possible, and the short piston is replaced by the long piston+the front part of the compound spring, and the launcher and the upper and lower shells are also simplified ... In short, it is much cheaper to produce one than to buy G36, and the performance will not be too bad. Suitable for national conditions, cost-effective.
