Liaoning Institute of Science and Technology, located in Benxi New Town, Liaoning Province, is a provincial-level ordinary undergraduate college with engineering as the main and multidisciplinary coordinated development. It has been selected as a national new engineering research and practice project, a construction university supported by the Ministry of Education, a national "Hundred Schools Project" pilot university, and the first batch of pilot schools in Liaoning Province.

The college, formerly known as Benxi Metallurgical College, was founded in 1948 and was originally affiliated to the Ministry of Metallurgical Industry. 1958, upgraded to Benxi iron and steel institute; In May 2004, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the school was upgraded to an undergraduate college and renamed as University of Science and Technology Liaoning.
