Corporate strategy will not succeed for no reason. Between winning major opportunities and actually achieving goals, the quality of leadership will have a huge impact on the success or failure of corporate strategy. In recent years, with the continuous changes in the financial environment at home and abroad, the development trend of Zhejiang's private economy has attracted widespread attention from people at home and abroad. Not only do private enterprises face the problems of "grand succession" and "transformation and upgrading," but the topics of entrepreneurs themselves have gradually become the industry's The focus of the exchange includes popular issues such as entrepreneur re-education, management capabilities, and leadership.
Recently, the "2013 Zhejiang Private Entrepreneurs (Spring) Forum" jointly organized by Zhejiang Institute of Business Studies and Zhejiang University School of Management was held in Hangzhou. At the forum, Liu Feng, director of the Leadership Department of the National Academy of Administration and director of the Academic Committee of the Zhejiang Institute of Business Studies, gave a detailed explanation of how Zhejiang private entrepreneurs should improve themselves in the new era with the theme of "New Leadership of Entrepreneurs" leadership.
1. Distinguish the relationship between "decision" and "policy"
The most critical factor in the development of an enterprise lies in the leadership of entrepreneurs. Leadership has two major elements: one is decision-making, which is where we should go and what projects we should do, or make choices among contradictions and conflicts. The other is influence, and the focus of influence is people.
Decision-making focuses on choice, that is, making choices amid contradictions and conflicts. If someone asked me which type of person has the strongest leadership, I would definitely answer entrepreneurs. This is true all over the world. So how should entrepreneurs choose? Mencius said: I want the fish, and I also want to eat the bear's paw. You cannot have both. If you can have both, take both. If not, give up the fish and take the bear's paw. In other words, you have to learn to sort and choose based on importance or preference. Entrepreneurship is about making decisive choices. There is never the best decision in the world, only relatively good decisions. I believe that when companies make choices, they must grasp the key points and make choices before they can continue to develop.
It is worth mentioning that the "policy" and "decision" of decision-making are different. The policy and decision must be separated before making a decision. "Ce" means to point out an idea. It is a word in itself, offering advice and advice. This word and policy can be the entrepreneur himself, or it can be someone else, such as your family, staff or even friends. It is not the boss who gives the idea. Patents, more ideas are given to you by others. "Decision" refers to choosing an idea, which is what entrepreneurs should focus on. The process of coming up with ideas should be carried out slowly. If you are slower, someone will supplement you, improve it, and argue with you. If you are slower, you can get more information, opportunities, resources, time, and energy. Therefore, the policy must be slow, but the decision must be fast. Once the idea is determined, it must be put into action immediately, so as to seize the opportunity. Of course, our decision-making must first comply with the rule of law and the law, and then comprehensively consider issues such as technology, personnel, funds, and timing. At the same time, entrepreneurs should make more decisions and make fewer decisions. This is the principle. The average manager makes eight decisions a week, what about you? Only make one decision every three weeks. With fewer decisions, you can concentrate on making high-quality judgments. If the boss makes decisions and talks all day long, it will easily lead to the more he talks, the less valuable he will be. Therefore, we must make fewer decisions, and when it comes time to make decisions, we must also reduce the number of participants in order to reduce wrangling and improve efficiency.
Of course, if entrepreneurs want to improve their leadership, they must also focus on improving their influence. Some entrepreneurs may have a decision-making power of 80 or even 85 points, but their influence is only over 10 points. Such entrepreneurs are also unqualified.
2. The key to making decisions lies in common sense and general knowledge
Making decisions first requires common sense, not book knowledge. For example, if your product is of good quality, then people will naturally trust you. I think that if the quality of the product really improves and the cost is high, people will still buy it, or more people will buy it. So this common sense includes your Conscience, credibility, etc. The second is general knowledge. Some businessmen are first-rate in courage, but they are relatively weak in general knowledge.
When I was giving a lecture in the south, a young man who often came to lectures asked me how he should choose if his boss asked him to continue studying for a doctorate, but the school wanted him to take a temporary job as deputy county magistrate of education. I said, you must want to be the deputy county magistrate, and the people who come to my class must want to be leaders.
The young man acquiesced, but I told him that it is not easy for you to be the deputy county magistrate. You are from Fujian. Your undergraduate major is biology and your graduate major is entomology. You know a lot about animals, but you don’t understand. People, all experts must limit themselves, must dig in, and cannot look around, only then can they improve their technology. But for entrepreneurs, the most important thing is limitations. Entrepreneurs must broaden their knowledge. You must not only understand people, but also understand politics and history.
In the knowledge structure of entrepreneurs, there is another very important item, which is "knowledge", which is the tolerance of others. You have people who work in technology, marketing, and finance. Your boss may like to take risks, but your employees may be cautious and introverted. In other words, you may have men and women working under you. In terms of calculations, women may not be as good as women. Women are not necessarily better than men, but women may have a deeper understanding of people, companies, and things than men. Faced with these differentiated personalities and talents, entrepreneurs cannot ask everyone to think the same as themselves, but should open their horizons, open their minds, and tolerate differences. Then, I think you are not far away from success.
3. Entrepreneurs must practice the "three virtues"
The word "leader" in leadership has four meanings: the first is to lead the team, and you need people to follow you. You; The second is to control the direction. You must clearly indicate to your subordinates where to go? That is the direction of enterprise development; the third is that entrepreneurs must be "rigid", that is, they must be authoritative. Once you make a decision, your subordinates must follow up; the fourth is the most important, the "leader" must Be clear about your heart, your goals, your intentions, and your strategy. On the contrary, if you don't understand clearly, your subordinates won't know where to go.
The word "guide" also has four meanings: the first meaning is guidance. Today's employees don't just do whatever the leader tells them to do. Nowadays, people are more enlightened and rigid management will not work. Therefore, I think we need to guide towards the long-term goal; the second meaning is coaching, and coaching subordinates is the boss. Only by coaching employees well can we build the overall team of the company and bring real business; the third level of meaning is supervision. Leaders must supervise subordinates afterwards. Without supervision, there will be no performance. Without supervision, It will lead to lazy behavior among subordinates, which is not conducive to the cultivation of employees' sense of responsibility; the fourth meaning is the cultivation of talents, so the key to leadership is to guide from the front first, supervise afterwards, and provide counseling nearby. There is also an important The thing is to cultivate good talents.
Together these four leaders and four leaders are called leadership.
So, how can we improve our leadership skills?
I think there is a question that may help entrepreneurs find the answer. Why can Tang Seng be a leader?
The first reason why Tang Seng can be a leader, I think, is courage. One tribulation after another, after ninety-nine and eighty-one tribulations, Tang Seng still refused to turn back. His direction is unswerving, so he is first of all a brave man. Without courage, he cannot be a leader or a boss, and it is impossible to succeed in starting a business. .
The second is benevolence. Tang Seng, who is the boss, is the most united. Whether it is Monk Sha, Zhu Bajie, White Dragon Horse, or Sun Wukong, he treats everyone equally and moves forward with the mentality of everyone developing together. Therefore, people who know how to unite are most likely to become bosses. Who is the most nervous among this group of people? Everyone knows that the most nervous person is Sun Wukong, the backbone of the business. As soon as you give the command, he will immediately charge into the battle. Who is the liveliest? There is no doubt that it is Zhu Bajie. He has a cheerful and lively personality, and has a good relationship with boys and even better relationships with girls. However, after looking at the file, he molested Chang'e twice, which was serious sexual harassment. Of course, we should first look at the advantages and pay attention to them, and then look at the shortcomings and restrain them. This is the boss. Only when the boss sees the strengths of employees first and then the weaknesses, or in other words, looks more at the strengths and less at the weaknesses, can he maximize his strengths and avoid weaknesses. The strength of leadership lies in bringing out the strengths and abilities of everyone.
The third is wisdom. Wisdom is your knowledge and ability. As a leader, you must first know what to do and what not to do, and you cannot hesitate. For example, there is a half-full glass of water. Some government officials see a gap. The funds are not enough and the project will not work. However, some entrepreneurs see the water as opportunities and resources. Positive, progressive and confident, this is the entrepreneurial spirit.
Only in the face of difficulties and tribulations can your ability and intelligence level be significantly improved.
