① The applicable pressure range is wide. The piston compressor can be designed as low pressure, medium pressure, high pressure and ultrahigh pressure. When the exhaust pressure fluctuates at the same speed, the displacement of the piston compressor remains basically unchanged.
② High compression efficiency. The process of compressing gas in piston compressor is a closed system with high compression efficiency.
③ The adaptability is strong, the displacement range of piston compressor is wide, and the influence of gas density on compressor performance is not as obvious as that of rotating speed compressor. Piston compressors of the same specification, with a little modification, can usually be used to compress other gas media.
Disadvantages of piston compressor:
(1) gas is oily, especially oil lubrication.
(2) The speed should not be too high, because it is limited by the inertia force of reciprocating motion.
(3) Discontinuous exhaust and fluctuating gas pressure may cause airflow pulsation and vibration.
(4) There are many wearing parts and a large amount of maintenance.
