Whose patent is the plug-in hybrid car?

At present, from a technical point of view, there are two kinds of hybrids on the market, one is oil-electric hybrid, and the other is plug-in hybrid. Although plug-in hybrid has ultra-low comprehensive fuel consumption, the plug-in hybrid market has been in a relatively unpopular state because of its high price and convenient daily use.

How high is the price of plug-in hybrid models? Let's just say, go? Take Toyota Corolla as an example. The official starting price of Corolla Twin Engine is135,800 yuan, while the official starting price of Corolla Twin Engine E+ is as high as 207,800 yuan. Although plug-in hybrid models are more fuel efficient, the extra price difference of 72,000 yuan can be used for ordinary office workers for several years. Besides, you can buy Camry and Corolla in your early 200,000 s..

Therefore, in terms of economy and practicality, hybrid vehicles have more advantages than plug-in hybrid vehicles. Of course, if it is in a restricted city, it will be counted separately. A few years ago, there was a saying in the field of hybrid vehicles that "there are two kinds of hybrids in the world, one is Toyota and the other is other", but with the strong rise of Honda hybrid, this statement may become "there are two kinds of hybrids in the world, one is Toyota and the other is Honda".

Toyota strikes first.

Toyota's position in the field of hybrid power is understandable. After all, in 1997, when major car companies were still concentrating on developing traditional cars, Toyota had already launched the first hybrid model-Prius. As of this year, the global cumulative sales volume of Toyota hybrid vehicles has exceeded150,000, and it shows a significant growth trend every year.

With the advantage that Toyota is the first to enter the oil-electric hybrid market, Toyota's THS hybrid system has accumulated a good reputation at home and abroad. It is precisely because of Toyota's blockade of hybrid technology that this power system, which consists of engine, E-CVT, PCU and battery, realizes different cooperation between motor and engine under different road conditions under the core adjustment of planetary gears.

The core of Toyota THS hybrid system is the planetary gear, which can adjust the engine working condition through the feedback of battery, electric quantity, vehicle condition and throttle, and cooperate with the motor and battery to ensure that the engine is always in the best working state, so Toyota has set up a patent blockade in this respect. For other car companies, if they want to develop hybrids, they can only find another way.

Honda found another way.

Only those who are good at challenges can achieve results. Did Toyota technically block the planetary gears? Then I found another way to avoid it, and Honda i-MMD was born. In 20 13, Honda officially unveiled its latest hybrid system i-MMD. The first model equipped with the first generation i-MMD hybrid system is the ninth generation Accord that we are very familiar with.

Unlike TOYOTA's THS, which realizes power splitting through planetary gear sets, Honda's i-MMD hybrid system selects two motors as the core to act as the speed change function, which can be responsible for both speed regulation and power output. Under this structural layout, i-MMD has obtained three different operation modes, which are closer to pure electric vehicles in experience and have better acceleration ability than competitors at the same level.

What really makes Honda famous in the hybrid market is the third generation i-MMD hybrid system. Compared with the previous two generations, the third generation i-MMD hybrid system improves the thermal efficiency of the engine from 38.9% to 40.6%, which can have better fuel economy. The volume of PCU is also reduced by 32%, and a magneto without heavy rare earth is also used. The optimized Honda third-generation i-MMD hybrid system also has the strength to compete with Toyota THS.

Only "two oil fields" are keen on oil-electricity mixing.

At present, only Toyota and Honda focus on developing hybrid electric vehicles. More car companies just add a 48V light hybrid or even a 24V light hybrid to reduce fuel consumption. On the one hand, because hybrid technology has been thoroughly understood by Toyota and Honda, it is difficult for other car companies to find another way. On the other hand, because THS and i-MMD are too powerful, other car companies can only survive in the cracks even if they vigorously develop hybrid vehicles.

At present, both Toyota and Honda have installed their own hybrid systems on the main models, including A-class Corolla and Lingpai, B-class Camry, Accord and SUV? RAV4 Fang Rong, Hao Ying, etc. Honda also relies on the third-generation i-MMD hybrid system to smash the Toyota THS on various models.

But in fact, from the perspective of market sales, although the growth rate of Honda hybrid cars is obvious in the past three years, there is still a big gap compared with Toyota's global sales of hybrid cars of 654.38+0.5 million. But if we only look at the sales in the past three years, the gap is not big. Honda's i-MMD has become the only competitor of Toyota THS.

Write at the end:

In terms of reliability, Toyota's THS and Honda's i-MMD are excellent enough, and the failure rate is extremely low, and the fuel consumption of competing models at the same level is equally divided. Maybe the difference between Honda's i-MMD and Toyota's THS is just the precipitation of time!
