Air purifiers were not originally for home use!
Dating back to the 1940s, during World War II, a military factory that produced high-end weapons at that time found that the yield rate of product parts was relatively low. Research found that the defective products were related to dust particles in the air in the production environment. It had something to do with it, so the earliest research on air purification began!
After that, the application of air purification became more and more widespread. Photolithography workshops, high-precision processing workshops, large-scale integrated circuit production workshops, pharmaceutical workshops, high-level hospital wards, operating rooms, food processing workshops, cosmetics production workshops, etc. are increasingly beginning to build clean production workshops (dust-free workshop).
In the 1960s, the American company envirco produced a product, FFU, which is a fan filter unit. It was used in operating rooms for dust-free and sterile processing! It can be regarded as the prototype of today’s air purifier!
The unit where I first worked after graduation was in the production of purification workbenches, air showers, laminar flow hoods and other products. One year when a colleague of mine got married, my colleagues joked that they would give it to the newlyweds. A laminar flow hood is used to raise the next generation. Now it seems that the joke at that time has become a reality.
Of course, the filtration efficiency, air volume and other parameters of air purifiers used in industry are actually much higher than those of air purifiers currently on the market, and each item has its own strict requirements. Requirements, from design to construction to completion testing!
Today’s home air purifiers indeed do not need to use strict requirements for air volume and filter filtration efficiency! After all, it is for civilian use. However, when we choose an air purifier, we still mainly refer to the air volume and the filtration efficiency of the filter! Since the filters currently used by most manufacturers have similar efficiencies, the air volume indicator is particularly important!
In addition, there are a few others to buy: 1. Those that generate ozone, 2. Those that use ultraviolet lamps (which also generate ozone), 3. Those that use high-voltage discharge ionization purification technology. These themselves are harmful to human health!
