Yunnan:
Yunnan Province, called Yun or Dian for short, is one of the 23 provinces in China, located in the southwest of China, with Kunming as its capital. It is between 2 1 8 ~ 29 15 north latitude and 97 31~106 east longitude. It borders Guizhou and Guangxi in the east, Sichuan in the north, Tibet in the northwest and Myanmar in the west and south. Yunnan is one of the provinces with the longest border in China, and 25 border counties in 8 states (cities) border Myanmar, Laos and Viet Nam respectively. The Tropic of Cancer runs through the southern part of Yunnan Province and belongs to the inland area with low latitude. The terrain is high in the northwest and low in the southeast, descending step by step from north to south. It belongs to mountainous plateau topography, and the mountainous area accounts for 88.64% of the total area of the province, spanning six major water systems: Yangtze River, Pearl River, Yuanjiang River, Lancang River, Nujiang River and Daying River. Yunnan's climate basically belongs to subtropical and tropical monsoon climate, while northwest Yunnan belongs to plateau and mountain climate. Yunnan has the largest number of animal and plant species in China, and is known as the kingdom of animals and plants, also known as the kingdom of non-ferrous metals. With a long history and culture and beautiful natural scenery, it is one of the important birthplaces of human civilization.
