Interpretation of flash memory array

Flash memory array is a patented product of Suzhou Yishitong Technology Co., Ltd., which is a kind of solid-state hard disk, but it is not completely equivalent to the ordinary solid-state hard disk on the market. It not only has the advantages of ordinary solid-state hard disk, but also changes into the disadvantages of ordinary solid-state hard disk.

Solid-state hard disk, also known as electronic hard disk or solid-state electronic disk, is a hard disk composed of control unit and solid-state storage unit (DRAM or FLASH chip). The interface specification, definition, function and usage of solid-state hard disk are the same as those of ordinary hard disk, and the product shape and size are also the same as those of ordinary hard disk. But it has incomparable advantages over traditional hard disks.

Compared with ordinary hard disks, solid-state hard disks have the following advantages:

1. Start quickly, and there is no process of motor accelerating rotation.

2. No magnetic head, fast random reading and minimum reading delay.

According to related tests, under the same computer configuration, it only takes 18 seconds for a notebook with solid-state hard disk to appear on the desktop, while it takes 3 1 second for a notebook with traditional hard disk, almost half the difference.

3. Relatively fixed reading time. Because the addressing time is independent of the data storage location, disk fragmentation will not affect the reading time.

4. The writing speed of solid-state hard disk based on DRAM is extremely fast.

5. There is no noise. Because there is no mechanical motor and fan, the noise value is 0 decibel when working. Some high-end or large-capacity products are equipped with fans, so it will still produce noise.

6. Low-capacity solid-state hard disk based on flash memory has low energy consumption and low calorific value.

7. There are no mechanical moving parts inside, so there will be no mechanical failure and no fear of collision, impact and vibration. In this way, the normal use of the notebook computer will not be affected even if it moves at high speed or even tilts, and the possibility of data loss can be minimized when the notebook computer accidentally falls or collides with hard objects.

8. Wider operating temperature range. A typical hard disk drive can only work in the range of 5 to 55 degrees Celsius. Most SSDs can work at-10~70 degrees Celsius, and some industrial SSDs can also work at -40~85 degrees Celsius or even higher.

9. Low-capacity SSDs are smaller and lighter than SSDs with the same capacity.

The above are some advantages of SSD over ordinary hard disk, but its disadvantages should not be underestimated. Our flash memory array provides a compromise solution to these advantages and disadvantages. It perfectly solves the problem that SSD is difficult to enter the general consumer market.

1. Ordinary SSD is expensive. The price per unit capacity is 5~ 10 times (based on flash memory) or even 200~300 times (based on DRAM) of the traditional hard disk. Ordinary SSD, such as a 32G solid-state hard disk of Taipower, is quoted at 999 yuan. Although there is no specific quotation for our flash memory array at this stage, our combined storage device only needs one flash memory hub and four 2G flash memory chips. The price of flash chip is 45 yuan per chip, and the cost of flash HUB with our own intellectual property rights is only about 13 USD. The cost of such a 32G flash memory array can be controlled within 300 yuan. It can be seen that the savings are not a little bit!

2. Low capacity. At present, the maximum capacity of SSD is much lower than that of traditional HDD.

Indeed, this problem is a bottleneck in the development of SSD at this stage. At present, the maximum capacity of SSD on the market is 256G, which cannot be compared with TB-level traditional hard disks. And as its capacity increases. Compared with the traditional hard disk, the advantages of small size and light weight of SSD will also be reduced. But for ordinary consumers, flash memory array is enough to meet the needs of daily work and entertainment!

3. The writing life is limited (based on flash memory).

On the read and write life of flash memory array. It depends on the needs of users. Usually, ordinary users have low requirements for reading and writing. Ordinary flash chips are enough, and now flash is very cheap. Our flash memory array can do DIY again. We can change it at any time according to our own needs. If users have higher requirements for reading and writing life, they can choose higher quality flash chips.

5. Solid-state hard disk based on flash memory is much slower than traditional hard disk when writing, and it is also more prone to writing fragments.

In terms of speed, we are a flash memory array. Therefore, our technology can combine multiple flash memory blocks into an array according to the needs of users. If you need high speed, you can do raid0 yourself. If you need data security, you can do raid 1. The figure below is our actual test data.

6. It is difficult to recover data after it is damaged. Traditional disk or tape storage methods, if the hardware is damaged, may be able to save some data through the current data recovery technology. But if the SSD is damaged, it is almost impossible to recover the data through the current data recovery technology.

This is the * * * of all solid state drives, and there is no perfect solution at present. Our flash memory array mainly focuses on preventing data corruption in this area. We solidified a self-developed software on flashHUB to monitor the running status of each flash in real time. If any flash is found to be abnormal, an early warning will be issued to remind users to make data backup and replace the flash in time.
