Brief introduction of Frank Whittle.

Sir Frank Whittle of Frank Whittle (1907- 1996) is a British aviation engineer, inventor and pioneer of jet propulsion technology. 1 June 9071Born in Coventry. 1923 joined the royal air force and studied at Cranwill air force academy. 1928 published papers on gas turbines and jet reaction vehicles for the first time, and put forward the basic formula of jet thermodynamics. 1930 obtained the design patent of turbojet engine. 1937 ~ 1944 the single-rotor turbojet engine developed by whittle, the chief engineer of British Jet Power Co., Ltd., made its first flight in April 1937. 1941may, Gloucester company's E-28/39 aircraft adopted the W- 1 engine designed by whittle, and the test flight was successful. The jet fighters such as meteor and vampire used by Britain in the late World War II and after the war were all developed on the basis of this kind of aircraft. In the early 1950s, the world's first turboprop passenger plane "Viscount" and the first turbojet passenger plane "Comet" were successfully developed, which made Britain's aviation jet propulsion technology once occupy a leading position in the world. Whittle was awarded the rank of brigadier general and knight.
