Achievements of scientific drilling projects in mainland China

The China Continental Scientific Drilling Project is the deepest scientific drilling in the history of our country, and it is also the deepest scientific drilling among the more than 20 projects of the International Continental Scientific Drilling Program currently being implemented. Using the world's first "screw motor-hydraulic hammer-diamond coring drilling technology" with independent intellectual property rights, the project successfully drilled 5,158 meters into hard crystalline rock for the first time and obtained 5,118.2 meters of core and gas fluid samples. Through this scientific deep drilling, Chinese scientists have obtained a series of innovative results, revealing the continuous material composition deep in the plate convergence boundary and the deep material composition in the ultra-high pressure metamorphic zone; proving that plates carrying huge amounts of material have subducted in geological history. Spectacular geological events deep in the mantle, as well as major rupture events that occurred 7 to 8 million years ago; calibrated typical geophysical fields in crystalline rock areas; proposed the multiplicity and diachronic "deep" nature of crustal layering detachment "Dive-return" new model.

The project has obtained 2 national invention patents, 1 utility model patent, published many monographs, published more than 300 papers, won 2 first prizes of the Land and Resources Science and Technology Award, and the National Science and Technology Award. 1 second prize for Progress Award. In the past five years, nearly 200 international colleagues have conducted cooperative research or visited the drilling site, and nearly 30,000 people have visited the site; in 2002, it was rated as one of China's top ten scientific and technological events of public concern; in 2004, the Codrilling Center won the National May Day Labor Certificate , was rated as one of the top ten scientific and technological advances by academicians of the two academies in 2006; it has trained more than 50 doctoral students and more than 60 master's students. The long-term observation station established has become a youth science education base in Donghai County.

The implementation of China's continental scientific drilling project has opened a new page in my country's geological research. It is of great scientific significance for exploring the deep dynamic processes of the earth and developing continental dynamics theory. At the same time, it has established applicable The new drilling technology system adapted to the harsh conditions of deep hole hard rock has also brought my country's drilling technology level to a new level.
