Working principle: Coupler is mainly composed of three parts: coupler body, coupler head and coupler tail. Hook head consists of three small parts: hook tongue, hook tongue pin and coupler. The three small parts of coupler include hook lock iron, hook tongue push iron and lower lock pin. The lower lock pin is connected with the connecting rod of the lower lock pin and forms a complete coupler opening and closing system together with the hook lifting rod arranged for opening the coupler.
When the upper hook lever is lifted, the hook lever jacks up the connecting rod of the lower lock pin, and the lower lock pin drives the lock iron to lift and jack up the push rod, and the push rod kicks the hook tongue to open the coupler. On the contrary, if you want to connect two cars, open the coupler while pushing the car to contact and open the coupler. The hook tongue makes the push rod rotate to drive the lock iron, and the lock iron falls to ensure the coupler to lock, thus completing the train connection.
Extended data
At present, the types of couplers used in China's railways are 16, 17, 13B, 13A and 13, and the No.2 coupler has been used before.
16 and 17 couplers are developed to meet the needs of heavy-haul train operation of daqin coal transport special train and continuous dumping on dumper without unhooking. All newly-built railway freight cars of 70 tons and above have adopted high-strength 17 couplers. When using 16 couplers on some heavy-haul trains, the drawbar technology is also adopted.
The newly-built 60t railway freight cars all adopt high-strength 13B couplers. With the increase of train speed and traction tonnage, the strength of No.2 coupler, 13 carbon steel coupler, 13 C steel coupler and 13A coupler can no longer meet the needs of railway freight car development, and railway freight car couplers are developing in the direction of high reliability, high strength and good wear resistance.
