While working in the United States in the early years, Wang Xiaodong achieved a number of world-class research results. His academic papers have been published in top international academic journals such as Science, Nature, and Cell. In April 2004, 41-year-old Wang Xiaodong was elected as an academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States, becoming the first person among the more than 200,000 students from mainland China to study in the United States to enter the highest hall of the American scientific community.
