Over the years, software engineering has carried out research work in the fields of software process and knowledge management, machine learning, distributed and parallel computing, trusted software and data service engineering. In the direction of software process and knowledge management, the theory, method and practice process of knowledge-based software engineering are studied with the application field as the guidance. Applying knowledge management technology to collaborative translation production line, that is, using knowledge engineering method to guide the development of machine translation system, effectively solves the contradiction between translation efficiency and translation quality in the process of large-scale scientific and technological materials translation. The research results have played an important role in the national innovation project "Million Patent Translation Project", the national large aircraft special project "Technical Publication Translation Project and national major projects", and their achievements have won the "Liaoning Science and Technology Progress Award". In the direction of machine learning, aiming at the intelligent requirements of software development and software system, the relevant theories, methods and technologies of machine learning are mainly studied. In the direction of distributed and parallel computing, the theory and implementation technology of distributed system, on-chip multithreading architecture and fault-tolerant technology are studied, and applied in Huawei software and AVIC related enterprises and institutions. In the direction of trusted software, it focuses on intrusion detection technology, system audit technology, access control strategy, public opinion monitoring technology and space communication network technology. Completed the national computer network and information security management center fund project "host-based third-party system audit, analysis and protection tools", and the research results have won the third prize of scientific and technological progress of China Aviation Society and the second prize of scientific and technological progress of AVIC I Group. In the direction of data service engineering, based on the theory and technology in the field of engineering database, the research on engineering knowledge extraction, knowledge base construction technology and engineering database application technology has been carried out. In the project, the full three-dimensional information related technology, knowledge engineering and knowledge management technology, and life cycle management technology are organically integrated, and it has undertaken more than 15 scientific research projects successively, and has been applied to many aviation enterprises and institutions such as China Air-to-Air Missile Research Institute and Shenyang Liming Engine (Group) Co., Ltd.
At present, the discipline has formed a stable research echelon. At present, there are 7 professors, 6 associate professors/KLOC-0, 2 Liaoning Million Project, 4 enterprise professor-level tutors and 6 professional research (experiment) rooms.
