Today, Huawei has not stopped exploring the future form of mobile phones. In addition to the full-screen form of "competing for land", Huawei has also made great efforts in other forms. Recently, foreign media exposed a new patent of Huawei. The content in the patent is a model equipped with a surround screen. It is worth mentioning that this model is similar to Xiaomi MIX Alpha launched by Xiaomi last year. Not much to say, let's take a look at what designs Huawei's new patents have brought.
According to the report of foreign media LetsGoDigital, a new patent of Huawei's mobile phone appearance has been authorized. The patent shows that the machine is equipped with a surround screen, which extends from the left side of the fuselage to the back. It is worth mentioning that there is no opening in the front screen area, but there is no more information about the solution of its front camera module (pop-up design or off-screen camera technology may be adopted).
From the back of the mobile phone, only the back screen accounts for nearly 70%, leaving only a vertical area to carry the rear three-camera module and flash. In addition, there are still physical buttons on the side.
It is reported that this design patent was submitted by Huawei to CNIPA National Intellectual Property Administration in March 2020, and it was only authorized in September this year.
The design in this patent can't help but remind people of Xiaomi MIX Alpha, which is a product in the form of surround screen launched by Xiaomi last year. The two are very similar in design. The latter was hailed as "the strongest conceptual machine" at the beginning of its debut. It is equipped with a 7.92-inch flexible organic light-emitting diode (OLED) display, which is the first model in the world equipped with a surround screen. It not only cancels the side frame (this is different from Huawei's new patent, Xiaomi MIX Alpha chooses to be equipped with side virtual buttons), but the screen covers the front, side and back, accounting for 180% of the screen. It brings super visual impact, and with the help of screen sound technology, it is a good audio-visual experience.
Similarly, the design of surround screen also needs a brand-new interactive system, especially the display of side and back screens, screen switching and touch control.
Written at the end: For reference, Xiaomi MIX Alpha's R&D expenditure is as high as 500 million, and its hardware cost has exceeded 20,000. In addition, Lei Jun also said that mass production of this model was extremely difficult, and finally he chose to give up mass production. The failure of mass production of Xiaomi MIX Alpha has also disappointed many users, and they can't experience such a new mobile phone with excellent audio and video. At present, Huawei does not know whether this new patent can be finally implemented. There may be enough technology to support the mass production of surround screen models.
