Utility model patent is one of the three types of patents. Utility model refers to a new technical solution proposed for the shape, structure or combination of a product that is suitable for practical use. Patents are only valid for the period specified by law. After the effective protection period of the patent rights expires, the patent rights enjoyed by the patentee are automatically lost and generally cannot be renewed. When the protection period expires, the invention becomes a public asset and others can freely use the invention to create products. The length of time that patent rights are protected by law is stipulated by the Patent Law of the relevant country or relevant international conventions. The terms of patent protection in my country are twenty years for invention patents, and ten years for utility model patents and design patents, both calculated from the date of application.
