Development status of non-pneumatic tires

For a long time, the tires commonly used in vehicles are pneumatic tires. This kind of tire was invented by an Englishman in 1996, and he obtained the patent for the first pneumatic tire in the world. In application, this kind of tire often needs to be inflated, changed and repaired because it is easy to leak and puncture, which brings great inconvenience to people's production and life. Especially when the vehicle is driving at high speed, it will cause serious traffic accidents such as car crash and death due to sudden tire puncture. Many scientific research and production departments at home and abroad have invested a lot of manpower, financial resources and material resources to solve the problem of tire inflation-free and safety, but no breakthrough has been made. For example, in the mid-20th century, Shiner Company in West Germany developed a solid tire made of polyurethane rubber filled with fiber filler, which was eliminated due to its poor cushioning performance. During 65438-0977, Calfili Company of the United States developed a kind of foam pneumatic bicycle tire, which could not be put into practical production due to its poor aging resistance and weather resistance.

Over the years, Beijing Rubber Research Institute, Hebei Rubber Research Institute, Shanghai Rubber Research Institute, Xuzhou Rubber Factory, Qingdao No.2 Tire Factory, Hualin Rubber Factory, Zhanjiang Rubber Factory, Weihai Tire Co., Ltd. and other units have invested a lot of manpower and material resources, done a lot of research work on the production technology of non-pneumatic tires, and initially developed three products.

The first type is solid tires. The disadvantages of this kind of tire are: large materials, high tire weight, high cost, easy explosion and no practical value.

The second type is fiber solid tire. The disadvantages of this kind of tire are: difficult production process, high power consumption, poor tire weight and cushioning performance, high cost and no practical value.

The third type is foam solid tire. The disadvantage of this kind of tire is that the carcass is plastic foam, so the weather resistance is poor, the aging speed is fast, and it is easy to relax. Especially when driving at high speed continuously, the foam part of the tire core softens quickly and then breaks, making it unusable. This kind of tire has been trial-produced many years ago, and there has been no progress in practical application so far.
