Predecessor of the school:
Provincial Guangxi University was established in 1928. In 1952, Chairman Mao Zedong personally inscribed the name of Guangxi University; in the same year, the Agricultural College of Guangxi University became an independent Guangxi Agricultural College. In 1958, Chairman Mao approved the restoration and reconstruction of Guangxi University. In 1997, Guangxi University and Guangxi Agricultural University merged to form the new Guangxi University.
