Recently, Volkswagen seems to be particularly interested in MPVs. After releasing the Metroway facelift, it launched the Viloran specifically for the Chinese market and plans to launch it in March this year. I thought this was the end, but we still obtained a set of patent drawings of the new Volkswagen MPV from the State Intellectual Property Office.
It is reported that this model will be named Variosport. As a replacement model for the Volkswagen Sharan or Touran that has not been updated for a long time, it is planned to be officially launched in the first half of 2021.
Although the patent image does not render the material and color, we can still tell that this is an MPV by its protruding front, high ground clearance and slender rear. Compared with Viloran, the body size is smaller and basically the same as Sharan, but the rear door does not use a side sliding door design.
The smooth lines of the partially arched body are elegant and dynamic, which is the same as Viloran's design concept. However, the design of the front grille and headlights are more like the Tanyue produced by FAW-Volkswagen. You should know that FAW-Volkswagen has only produced the Caddy MPV, and it has been discontinued for a long time. From this, it can be judged that FAW-Volkswagen is very likely to put it into production.
In terms of power, it is expected to be equipped with Volkswagen's star product-1.4L turbocharged engine, matched with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. In addition to being equipped with a 2.0L turbocharged engine, high-end models will also be equipped with a 4MOTION four-wheel drive system, and the possibility of launching a plug-in hybrid model is not ruled out.
