There is another storm in the dairy industry. Mengniu's high-end milk Telunsu may face the risk of being banned. A few days ago, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine sent a letter to the Inner Mongolia Quality Supervision Bureau, pointing out that the additive OMP contained in Telunsu is illegal if it is artificially added. The news shocked consumers. Mengniu claimed yesterday that the safety of additives has been recognized by international authorities. Last night, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said that the country was comprehensively cleaning up and rectifying the use of food additives. The safety of OMP in Mengniu Telunsu milk is being studied with relevant departments, and the research results will be announced in an appropriate way.
AQSIQ: OMP security is uncertain.
"Telunsu" comes from Mongolian, which means "golden milk". On the introduction of Mengniu website, Telunsu is divided into pure milk, OMP milk, low-fat milk and organic milk. As the sole representative of china dairy, Telunsu won the prize of IDF 27th World Dairy Congress in 2006.
However, in the letter of February 2, AQSIQ gave its opinion on Mengniu Telunsu milk additive for the first time. The opinion is that the safety of OMP is not clear in China, and the artificial addition of IGF- 1 related substances does not conform to the regulations, and the local quality inspection department in Inner Mongolia has been ordered to prohibit Mengniu Company from adding it.
The notice also said that if Mengniu Company thinks that OMP and IGF- 1 are safe, it can directly provide relevant materials to the Ministry of Health in accordance with legal procedures and apply to the health department for a decision on whether to allow OMP and IGF- 1.
It is reported that OMP is a chemical substance nominally contained in some Telunsu packages, and "IGF- 1" is a hormone protein. As the high-end milk of Mengniu, the current price of Telunsu is equivalent to more than twice that of general liquid milk. In 2007, Telunsu OMP products accounted for 7 1.2% of the market share of high-end dairy products.
Additives can increase the content of protein but cause cancer?
Protein content in milk per 100g can reach 3.3g, which is13.8% higher than the national standard-this is a big selling point of Telunsu. By using China National Intellectual Property Administration's patent search, the reporter can find three patents applied by Mengniu, namely "osteoblast milk protein-rich lactic acid bacteria beverage and its production method", "osteoblast milk protein-rich pasteurized milk and its production method" and "osteoblast milk protein-rich yogurt and its production method".
In these patent specifications, OMP is introduced as "osteoblast milk protein", and the standard term of this substance is GFC or growth factor concentrate. The patent specification shows that one component of GFC is IGF- 1. Mengniu cited medical research in the patent specification, saying that "IGF- 1 is a paracrine and autocrine factor, which regulates the proliferation and function of osteoblasts."
Fang, an academic counterfeiter, said that the amino acid composition, molecular weight and physiological function published by Mengniu are exactly the same as those of-1. It wouldn't be so coincidental if they were two different protein. The latter is a kind of hormone protein, which also exists naturally in milk, and it is about a few nanograms per milliliter. The IGF- 1 produced by human body is about 10 mg per day, but according to Mengniu patent, the IGF- 1 added in/kloc-00 grams of Telunsu milk is as high as 5.65 ~/kloc-0.
Mengniu: There is no IGF- 1 OMP, which is internationally recognized.
In this regard, Mengniu issued a statement yesterday that OMP security was recognized by international authorities such as FDA. Mengniu said that OMP is actually a basic milk protein MBP that has been studied and used internationally for many years, and quoted the FDA's "List of Safe Substances" as saying that MBP can be used in food without any restrictions on its dosage.
The statement also said that Mengniu's OMP raw materials were all imported from TATUA Company in New Zealand and passed the customs and import and export inspection and quarantine. And quoted the report of Inner Mongolia Quality Supervision Bureau after field investigation that "it can prove the quality and safety of OMP dairy products without adding IGF- 1".
The statement also stressed that OMP and "IGF- 1" are two completely different substances. "After testing, the content of IGF- 1 in Telunsu OMP milk is the same as that in ordinary milk."
Zhang Yi, Marketing Director of Mengniu Guangzhou Branch, said yesterday that1October 5th, 65438 Inner Mongolia Quality Supervision Bureau organized experts to check Mengniu Company, and the inspection team did not find IGF- 1 raw materials at the production site. Inner Mongolia Quality Supervision Bureau initially believes that the verification materials provided by Mengniu Company can prove the quality and safety of OMP dairy products, and IGF- 1 is not added.
"At present, the state is conducting a comprehensive clean-up and rectification of the use of food additives. Regarding the safety of OMP in Mengniu Telunsu milk, AQSIQ is conducting research with relevant departments, and the research results will be announced in an appropriate manner. " (Liu Jun, He)

Focus of controversy
OMP sticks to the end in milk.
Is it IGF- 1?
According to Mengniu's product manual, OMP is a milk protein from milk, which helps to form or repair human tissues. IGF- 1 Insulin-like growth factor is a recognized hormone protein, or the hormone of protein. The FDA once approved IGF- 1 for the treatment of diabetes and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, but it was later revoked because of its great side effects.
Mengniu said that IGF- 1 is only a technical reserve. Unlike OMP, IGF- 1 does not add milk. However, the scholar said that the biochemical data released by Mengniu is completely consistent with 1. General milk also contains IGF- 1. However, according to Mengniu's patent, the content of IGF-100 g of Telunsu milk is as high as 5.65~ 16.8mg, which is tens of thousands of times that of ordinary milk. It is reported that IGF-I may cause a variety of cancers. (Mid shot)
OMP life story
Mengniu contradicts itself?
Mengniu said in a statement that OMP is a milk basic protein MBP that has been studied and used internationally for many years. Introduced by Mengniu and TATUA Company, a dairy research and development institution in New Zealand. Mengniu OMP's raw materials are imported from TATUA Company in New Zealand. In 2006, when Mengniu launched OMP milk products, it was introduced that OMP milk "became the first osteoblast milk protein (OMP) milk product in the world" with the participation of the National Center for Public Nutrition and Development and Mengniu Dairy.
Is OMP imported from New Zealand or independently developed? Mengniu seems unable to get rid of the problem of "contradiction". (He Xun)

Guangzhou: Most supermarkets don't know yet.
Reporters visited major supermarkets in Guangzhou yesterday and found that most supermarkets are still selling Telunsu normally. At the Trust-Mart on the way forward, the receptionist told the reporter that the supermarket was selling normally because it had not received the notice that there was a problem with Telunsu. The reporter saw that there was no obvious change in the price of Telunsu, and the price of a box was still sold in 62 yuan. On the island of Jusco in Tianhe City, the staff told reporters that they had not received a clear notice of removal.
Supermarkets such as CR Vanguard, Carrefour and Shengjia said that they are contacting suppliers and government departments, but the specific situation is still unclear, and there is no action to remove the shelves for the time being. However, in Baijia Supermarket, Telunsu OMP milk has been removed from the shelves. Ms Liao, the public relations manager of Baijia Supermarket, said that for safety reasons, Baijia Supermarket removed all OMP milk from the shelves yesterday afternoon.
