The eight-line poem of the Jiangxia Huang family to recognize their ancestors was an "eight-line poem" that was once widely spread among the Qiaoshan branch of the Huang family. For a long time, some people have said that it is an "ancestral recognition poem" exclusive to the descendants of Qiaoshan. Huang's clan-recognizing poems are divided into the so-called "outer eight sentences" and "inner eight sentences".
The other eight lines are the farewell poem written by Huang Qiaoshangong, the great ancestor of the Huang family in Heping, Shaowu, to bid farewell to his disciples, also known as the "Poem on the Horse". The full text of the poem is:
The horse embarks on a journey to a different place, leaving the destination to establish its principles.
Living in a foreign country is like my own country, and living in a foreign land for a long time is my hometown.
Don’t forget your relatives’ words of destiny day and night, and recommend the incense of your ancestors in the morning and evening.
With deep roots and luxuriant leaves, with Tuqing, a Sanqi man is always prosperous.
The content and writing of the so-called inner eight sentences vary greatly from place to place and are recorded in literature.
The "Eight Line Poetry" may be regarded as the collective creation of the Huang family's ancestors. It is not a "patent" of any branch of the Huang family.
The origin of the Huang family
In "Test of Hundreds of Family Surnames", the same is said about the Huang family: "A descendant of Lu Zhong was acquired by King Wu of Zhou 3000 years ago. During the reign of Emperor Tianxia, ??he was granted the title of Huang Guo, which was located in the west of Huangchuan County, Henan Province, and was listed as one of the princes of the Emperor of Zhou at that time.
It is recorded in Zuo Zhuan that "Chu Zi joined the princes in Shen." Deer, Huang and Wei don't know. 'It refers to this Huang State. Later, the Huang State was finally destroyed by the ambitious Qiang Chu, so the descendants began to take the surname Huang as their surname. ”
