Differences and relations between waveguide modulator and bulk modulator

Different volumes have different properties. All belong to electro-optical modulators.

1, different volume. The bulk modulator has large volume, high modulation voltage and high power consumption. Optical waveguide modulator is made on thin film optical waveguide or strip optical waveguide, which has small volume, low driving voltage and low power consumption.

2. Different in nature. Waveguide optical modulator is a thin film optical waveguide made on a substrate by integrated optical technology, which realizes electro-optic, magneto-optical or acousto-optic modulation. The volume modulator needs to apply a relatively high voltage to realize electro-optic modulation. Electro-optic modulator is divided into optical waveguide modulator and volume modulator.
