orbitrap can do multi-level MS
LTQ Orbitrap combined Fourier transform mass spectrometry integrates LTQ with patented Orbitrap technology, adding orbitrap technology to the sensitivity and speed of LTQ It has the characteristics of high resolution, high quality and accuracy, and has the ability to detect compounds quickly, sensitively and reliably from complex systems. The obvious advantages of LTQ-Orbitrap in terms of mass accuracy, resolution and multi-stage mass spectrometry (MSn) capabilities make it rapidly replace TOF mass spectrometry in various application fields. From routine compound identification to the analysis of trace substances in demanding complex systems, the LTQ Orbitrap has a wide range of applications.
LTQ Orbitrap is a combined mass spectrometer system that integrates FinniganLTQ linear ion trap mass spectrometer and orbitrap mass analyzer. Ions generated at the atmospheric pressure ion source are captured in the LTQ mass analyzer. Once in the ion trap, these ions can be analyzed using the LTQ's MS or MS n scan modes. Then, ions are axially discharged from the LTQ, enter a C-shaped ion trap (C-trap), and then pass through the C-trap into the Orbitrap mass analyzer. By rapidly increasing the voltage of the Orbitrap center electrode, the ions from the C-trap can be captured. The captured ions move in a circular motion around the center electrode and vibrate along the axis of the center electrode.
All of the analytical performance and sample interface features of LTQ complement Orbitrap's broad kinetic range, exceptional sensitivity, mass accuracy and high resolution. Intelligent, data-dependent instrument control ensures great analysis flexibility and can be easily configured according to different analysis problems. In metabolite identification and "bottom-up" proteomics research, corresponding data acquisition and analysis software can convert the powerful analytical performance of LT QOrbitrap into accurate, immediately usable data information. For example, the intelligent use of accurate mass information in mass defect screening, structure elucidation and protein identification.
The LTQ Orbitrap mass spectrometer is compact and small, suitable for laboratories of any size and requires little laboratory infrastructure. This modular mass spectrometry system is easy and fast to install, ready for use and has high-throughput analysis capabilities. In particular, the Orbitrap analyzer chamber is maintenance-free.
The scan cycle of the LTQ Orbitrap at a resolution of 60,000 does not exceed 1 second, so it can provide accurate MS and MSn spectrum data while effectively monitoring the chromatography. Accurate mass determination can provide the elemental composition information of the complete molecule. The fragment ions obtained by MS n can also provide structural information.
