Every Andean country provides some copyright protection, but the lack of protection is a common phenomenon. The main problem is the lack of clear protection for computer software and limited protection for movies and recordings. The opinions recently issued by the Colombian board of directors even exist and provide software copyright law protection. Colombia has also stepped up law enforcement against movies and similar but still rampant piracy. In Bolivia, most intellectual property laws and regulations, including copyright, are outdated. A new investment law is also considering whether it exists. If passed, it will provide protection for industrial designs, patents and trademarks. The Venezuelan legislature is also considering a bill to protect intellectual property rights, focusing on upgrading patents and trademarks.
