Lazy rice is suitable for planting conditions.

First, the annual regeneration of glutinous rice is commonly known as "lazy rice". Rice does not need to be planted and transplanted every year, and it can be harvested for many years only once. Like leek, chicory, alfalfa and Pennisetum, "lazy rice" can be harvested only once in many years. Second, the introduction of new year's regenerated glutinous rice, commonly known as "lazy rice", does not need to sow and transplant rice every year, but only needs to be planted once to harvest for many years. The two oldest "lazy rice" trees in Maguan Town have been planted for 28 years. "Lazy rice", like leek, can be harvested only once in many years, making people's dreams come true for thousands of years. It is precisely because of its characteristics of "planting once and harvesting for many years" that it is commonly known as "lazy rice", which is really worthy of the name.

Third, the breeder

Lazy rice is Hu Daishu, a farmer's "expert in farming" in Maguan Town, Zhongxian County, Chongqing.

Hu Daishu only has a junior high school education, which summarizes the reasons for his great invention. He said, "I'm a lazy man and don't like to work, so I want to find out everything conveniently."

Hu Daishu's wife introduced that in the early 1960s, when others went out to beg for food, her husband pondered to grow pumpkins and sweet potatoes, both of which were fat, and then fed them to pigs. In a big group, Hu Daishu worked as a carpenter outside for a long time in order to avoid doing farm work. 1979, the land was contracted to households, and he went home to farm.

Hu Daishu said that he observed that the seedlings on the edge of the field grew well and the ears of grain were full and shiny. The reason is that there is enough light, so he invented the wide and narrow row transplanting method to dig ditches in the rice field to raise fish. Because the effect was very good, more than 50 secretaries and county heads all over the country came to his house to learn from the scriptures.

Fourth, the origin

Hu Daishu recalled that in the spring of 1982, he went to visit relatives in Liangping County and found a plant on the Essence Mountain on the way. He suspected that it was wild rice, so he pulled out four plants and planted them at home. Two plants survived. Later, Hu Daishu used the pollen of two kinds of wild rice plants to cross with several rice varieties in the three-point paddy field near the house, hoping to cultivate rice that can survive the winter.

1989, the experiment was finally successful. Hu Daishu named the successful hybrid rice "89- 1". The next year, we tried to plant it and achieved the miracle of 550 kilograms per mu. According to the China Dictionary of Contemporary Inventors, on June 22nd, 2000, China National Intellectual Property Administration officially granted Hu Daishu the invention patent right of "Yuenian ratooning rice", and issued a patent certificate with a 20-year authority.

It is reported that the yield per mu of this lazy rice is slightly higher than that of hybrid rice, and the protein content and rice yield are also higher than that of ordinary rice. The local villagers said that the rice made from this kind of rice is fragrant and harmonious, a bit like northeast rice.

The reporter saw in the experimental field of Hu calligrapher that the two nests of "rice kings" transplanted 28 years ago had roots of 2~3 square meters, and the straw was as thick as human fingers and extremely hard.

Hu Daishu said that these two nests of old wild rice are mainly used for the male and female parents of hybrid varieties. Due to the strong characteristics of straw, the cultivated hybrid rice also has lodging resistance.
