Looking back at the unlocking methods of iPhone in past dynasties, it can be said that the unlocking methods are more and more convenient, from the initial digital unlocking of iPhone to the fingerprint unlocking of iPhone 5s and the Face ID unlocking of iPhone X.

However, due to the epidemic in the past two years, people usually wear masks when they go out, which also greatly reduces the unlocking experience of Face ID, even less convenient than the previous fingerprint unlocking. So many users are also looking forward to when Apple will return to fingerprint unlocking on the iPhone.

The news that iPhone uses off-screen fingerprints has been circulating for many years, and Apple has also applied for many patents related to off-screen fingerprints. So this year's iPhone 13 will be added to the off-screen fingerprint unlocking?

Today, Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman stressed that Apple will not use off-screen fingerprints to unlock this year's iPhone 13 series, because at present, Apple has a new goal: to integrate the Face ID sensor into the bottom of the screen.

Mark Gurman said that although Apple has tested the off-screen fingerprint on the new iPhone this year, it will not really join, and Apple will continue to use face recognition to unlock it. Apple's long-term goal is to realize off-screen face recognition.

In addition, Mark Gurman also mentioned that Apple is planning to make a sensor similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 screen camera. And in the future, the new iPhone will use face recognition and fingerprint recognition. Among them, the relatively civilian iPhone uses off-screen fingerprint to unlock, while the high-end flagship model of Pro series is equipped with off-screen face recognition to unlock.

Compared with the Face ID module, unlocking with off-screen fingerprint can not only reduce the manufacturing cost of iPhone, but also further increase the screen ratio of iPhone. Why don't you use apples?

This is because, according to Apple's practice, all new features added to the iPhone have to undergo rigorous testing. We should not only improve the user experience, but also ensure the technical security. This is essentially different from some domestic manufacturers who regard a black technology as a selling point.

Apple believes that the current face recognition is much safer and more convenient than fingerprint recognition, and the off-screen fingerprint technology is not perfect and relatively unsafe. Therefore, Apple should not consider the off-screen fingerprint scheme in the short term unless there is a major breakthrough in off-screen fingerprint technology.

Although the current iPhone flagship model has cancelled the fingerprint unlocking, this does not mean that Apple has given up this unlocking method, but Apple has not put it in the mainstream unlocking method. For example, on last year's iPad Air4, Apple integrated fingerprint unlocking into the lock screen button.

In addition, at the end of June, Guo Ming said that Apple would add off-screen fingerprint technology to the new iPhone in 2022, which was developed by Apple itself.

At present, the anti-epidemic is becoming more and more normal, and it is estimated that it will take a long time to wear a mask. For an Apple that pays attention to user experience, since fingerprint unlocking is more convenient, it is not impossible to return to fingerprint unlocking on iPhone.
