Na Zhongyuan studied in Yunnan Agricultural University in 1974, majoring in agricultural machinery design and manufacturing. In 1977, he stayed at the school to teach due to his outstanding performance. In 1978, he proposed the "airflow combine harvester idea" and independently designed and developed it. Because of this invention, he was specially invited to participate in China's first institutional invention and creation conference in 1984. In 1985, he invented the "simple and efficient evolutionary device" and obtained the national patent. In 1988, he invented the "directional transplanting pot" and obtained a national patent.
