The core of soybean and corn strip compound planting is to expand the space to increase light and shrink the plants to keep them confidential. The goal of the soybean-corn belt compound planting model is to achieve "basically no reduction in corn yield and an extra harvest of beans."
1. Mode configuration
The "2+4" mode is mainly used, that is, 2 rows of corn and 4 rows of soybeans are planted in a compound manner, with a width of about 270 cm. The narrow rows of corn are 40 cm, the distance between corn and soybeans is 70 cm, and the narrow rows of soybeans are 30-40 cm to ensure the advantage of corn side rows and effective light radiation for soybeans in the later period.
2. Select improved varieties
Select varieties suitable for the Huainan region of Jiangsu. Soybean varieties should be selected as shade-tolerant, dense-tolerant, lodging-resistant, early-maturing, disease-resistant, and suitable for machine harvesting. Corn varieties should be selected as high-yielding and multi-resistant varieties with compact plant size, moderate maturity, strong disease resistance, suitable for dense planting, and suitable for machine-harvesting. . This year, in accordance with the provincial technical opinions and the reality of the lack of summer corn varieties in Huainan, it is recommended that the soybeans for summer sowing should be Tongdou 13, Xudou 18, Sudou 13, etc., and the fresh soybeans Sudou 18, Tongdou 6, Huainan Fresh beans No. 6, etc.
3. Seed treatment
Select the seeds and dry them before sowing. According to the occurrence of soil-borne diseases and seedling-stage diseases and insect pests in soybeans and corn, appropriate pesticides are selected for seed dressing to prevent and control underground pests and soil-borne diseases. Coated seeds are used for corn. For soybean coating, you can choose chemicals such as chlorantraniliprole, bromide, thiamethoxam, or fludioxonil.
4. Sowing at the right time
The suitable time for sowing in summer is June 15-25, but it is easy to encounter plum rains. Suitable moisture and early sowing are the key. Harvest dry seed varieties no later than July 15, and harvest green seed varieties no later than August 5.
5. Precision machine sowing
No-till machine sowing. Leave less than 10 cm of straw from the previous crop. The sowing depth of corn is 3 to 5 cm, and that of soybeans is 2 to 3 cm. The distance between corn plants is 11-14 cm, the effective number of grain corn plants is more than 4,000 plants/acre, and the number of fresh corn plants is more than 3,000 plants/acre. The spacing between soybean plants is 8-12 centimeters, which is determined according to the characteristics of the variety: the effective plants for summer sowing are 7,000-10,000 plants/mu, and the effective plants for fresh food are about 7,000 plants/mu.
