Ten years later (2007), Chery had achieved the "small goal" of producing and selling 1 million cars. But today, as Geely's production and sales have ranked first among its own brands year after year, it reached 1.3616 million units last year. The car companies competing with Geely have long since become Changan, Great Wall, and even Great Wall's sub-brand Haval. Although Chery has not faded out of our sight, its status and ranking among independent brands seems to be far less than it used to be. But in terms of quality, Geely and Chery will still be compared by everyone.

If we only look at the book data, the parameters of Chery's engine will be more beautiful, but Geely will not be much worse. Although Chery's performance is not such a big gap with Geely, the sales gap is wide. Very open, this is mainly because Chery has made mistakes in brand development and positioning. But we can’t say that the one with better sales will also have better quality. Therefore, if we compare these two companies only in terms of quality, we cannot conclude that Chery is better or Geely is stronger.

But the conclusion that "Chery's quality was better than Geely's 20 years ago" cannot be directly applied to today 20 years later. After all, the development directions of independent brands twenty years ago are completely different from those of today.

In fact, the impact of sales volume on a car company’s R&D investment is also obvious. If a car company wants to succeed, solid car-making skills and appropriate marketing strategies are indispensable. However, Chery's marketing has not matched its technical strength. Ten years ago, when Chery was mentioned, the first reaction was QQ. Ten years later, the first reaction is still QQ. Ten years ago, when Geely was mentioned, the first reaction was that it was hard to react and could not think of a representative model. Ten years later, the first reaction was a powerful independent brand with a promising future. This is the gap in marketing. Although the gap between Chery and Geely in terms of comprehensive technical strength is not very large, as time goes by, the gap between Geely and Chery will eventually become wider and wider, and Chery will be further and further behind Geely.
