DCT is different from ordinary automatic transmission system. It is a manual gear instead of an automatic gear. In addition to the flexibility of manual transmission and the comfort of automatic transmission, DCT can also provide uninterrupted power output. However, the traditional manual transmission uses a clutch. When shifting gears, the driver must step on the clutch pedal to make the gears of different gears mesh, and the power is interrupted when shifting gears, which makes the output performance intermittent.

DCT includes two automatic clutches, which are driven by electric control and hydraulic pressure, and can control the work of both clutches at the same time. When the transmission is running, one set of gears is in the engaged state, and when it is close to shifting, the gear of the next set of gears has been pre-selected, but the clutch is still in the disengaged state; When shifting gears, one clutch is disengaged from the gear in use, and the engagement of the other clutch is pre-selected, so that at least one gear can output power during the whole shifting period without power interruption. In order to cooperate with the above operations, the transmission shaft of DCT is divided into two parts, one is a solid transmission shaft and the other is a hollow transmission shaft. The solid drive shaft is connected to 1, 3, 5 and reverse gear, and the hollow drive shaft is connected to gear 2, 4 and 6. The two clutches are respectively responsible for the meshing action of a transmission shaft, and the engine power will be continuously transmitted by a transmission shaft.

Based on the manual transmission and its unique design, DCT can resist the torque as high as 350 Nm, and the precise computer calculation has more accurate shift control than the general manual transmission, so DCT has also become a more fuel-efficient transmission system. Based on the characteristics and working mode of DCT, DCT system can bring drivers the same feeling as driving a racing car.
