Why is sci so influential?

There are several reasons why SCI has such great influence:

SCI is an American standard, and its theoretical basis was founded by American eugene garfield. The previous database was also founded by institute for scientific information (ISI) and is now owned by the famous Thomson Reuters Group.

SCI is a relatively fair indicator. At present, in addition to SCI papers, Chinese papers, monographs, funds, patents, awards, social posts and so on. It is a recognized scientific research evaluation index in China. Except for SCI papers, the rest are almost dominated by relevant domestic institutions and units, which are easily controlled by "hidden rules" and lead to unfairness. The vast majority of SCI journals are abroad, mainly in Europe and America, which can avoid injustice to the greatest extent.

SCI-level papers are usually published in journals with good academic reputation and popularity. These journals have passed strict peer review and published high-quality research results, so they have high credibility and reliability.

SCI-level papers are included in widely indexed scientific literature databases, such as Web of Science, which makes them easier to be found, read and cited by other researchers.
