What is the ipc classification of international patents? What are the major categories of ipc classification?

The International Patent Classification Table (IPC Classification) was compiled according to the Strasbourg Agreement on International Patent Classification signed in 197 1. It is a universal tool for classifying and retrieving patent documents, and it is necessary for all countries in the world.

A complete IPC classification number is five digits, and the IPC format is: department (Section 1- letter); Category (secondary number); Subclass (subclass-1 letter: except A, Z, I, O, U, X); Main group (group-1 ~ 3)/group (-2 ~ 4 except "00").

IPC arranges the knowledge of the whole technical field related to invention patents in descending order according to the hierarchical structure, and divides it into eight sections (A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H), that is, eight volumes.
