Memories of the northern threshing floor

The word "Tian" means "threshing floor" in Henan dialect. Hou, a language master, said that Henan dialect is the simplest, which is true, and only one third of foreign languages are interesting enough. The use of the farm as a means of production has disappeared for many years, and people around me who know the farm are at least post-80 s and post-90 s, so I basically remember it here.

? Rough oilfields are divided into permanent oilfields and temporary production oilfields. Earlier, when the wheat yield was less than 500 kg, people would keep many permanent threshing fields on the edge of the village, threshing and drying the grain in the harvest season, and storing straw debris in their leisure time. Most farmers will temporarily hit a threshing floor at the beginning of the wheat harvest season, which is a rough field. Speaking of three summers, there is no leisure work. In rough land, we should first choose a place of tens to hundreds of square meters, adjacent to the edge of the wheat field, manually pull out the wheat, then level the soil and grind the stones, sprinkling water several times and repeating it several times. Finally, the original loose cultivated land becomes flat and solid, which is convenient for farming. This kind of work happens every year, and sometimes it can be of great use. On March 20th, 1945, four American planes appeared over the National Sports Station in Huojia County, Xinxiang City, Henan Province, and swooped and strafed a Japanese train. Unfortunately, a plane was shot and caught fire, and the pilot was forced to parachute and land in the west of Liugudi Village in Huojia County. In order to rescue American pilots occupied by the Japanese army, 1945, at 8: 00 pm on April 23rd, hundreds of young and middle-aged farmers in Xinxiang dragged 80 sets of stones with animals to the wheat field, and it took only midnight to grind out an airport covering an area of 100 mu, and then they landed at the wheat field airport at midnight to rescue the stranded pilots, so as to quickly build a suitable airport. The same thing happened during the construction of Yan 'an Airport. It was also farmers who used the experience of rough fields to build a mud airport.

? The mill. For thousands of years, there have been threshing floors in our agricultural areas, and they are necessary. We can live without a pavilion, but we can't live without a threshing floor. Its location is an important part of a village. When I was a child, our village was a big village with nine production teams, each with its own threshing floor. At that time, unlike now, there were no special public places in rural areas. For farmers, the threshing floor is where they work in the busy season, and the slack season is where everyone entertains. At the time of wheat harvest, in the noise of the whole village, everyone who could work took a sickle and began a busy summer harvest. There is no harvester, the school has a holiday during the wheat harvest, and the children all go to the wheat field to help. I often go out with the stars in the sky before dawn and take the rice to the ground to eat. Saying it's rice is actually very simple. There are corn flour and cakes made of wheat flour. People with better conditions will have a few boiled salted duck eggs, but no matter what they bring, they will not be left, and they will be very sweet and delicious. There are also cold boiled water in various containers, including plastic pots and vats. Plastic pots are all white-labeled pots with a nominal value of 10L, which tastes like long plastic. At that time, there was no concept of health, and I liked drinking this kind of water very much. But don't worry when drinking water, you should master the rhythm, especially for children, there is still more than half of the water in the pot. If you accidentally spill it, the water in the pot will rush out of the spout and choke for a long time. At that time, I didn't like drinking water from an open crock. That crock has a big mouth, so it's not easy to drink it directly at the mouth. It is very inconvenient to drink in a black porcelain bowl that matches the crock. Looking back now, the drinking method of crock is authentic and the most traditional. But the best drink is the sweet fresh cold water just pumped from the well, especially after planting corn, the water flowing in the waterway is very attractive. If you are thirsty, you can plunge your hand into the water and have a good time. It was really enjoyable. Children are too weak to cut wheat, so they will sit on the ground and steal things, and sometimes they will be called by the stevedores to help them step on the car. Riding a bike is also very interesting. There is often a distance between the wheat field and the threshing floor. In order to load more wheat at a time, someone needs to arrange and compact it. Because of my neat figure, I love trees at ordinary times, and I am not afraid of heights, so taking a bus has become my patent. Riding a bike is still a bit stressful. In order to withstand the bumps on the production road and reach the threshing floor safely, the bundled wheat must be placed in an appropriate structure. Unconsciously, bundles of golden wheat were piled up with shelf cars, and when the people under them gave the order to say "yes", they secretly came down and waited for the next car. It is usually very late to return to the threshing floor after pulling wheat. My family will go home early to prepare meals at dusk, but we often come back after dinner to watch adults working on wheat bales, and it is common to watch them fall asleep. When I got home, my head was covered with stars again. At that time, I often didn't understand why the stars I saw were different from those drawn in the textbook. All the stars I see are dots, and all the books are sharp corners. Later, after I was nearsighted in the third grade of junior high school, I saw that the stars in the night sky were constantly changing, and it suddenly dawned on me that all the people who drew illustrations in textbooks were nearsighted and painted the stars with thorns so realistically.

? The threshing floor The weather is changeable during the wheat harvest season. It was extremely hot just now, and it was overcast in a blink of an eye. The harvested wheat should be stored first. First of all, take wheat bran as the bottom and spread a mat. Then, the long mat will spiral up and roll into a bucket, which can temporarily store wheat and be covered with wheat straw. After a day of rain, the water in the field is dry, so you can hurry to dry it. The scorching sun is the best time to thresh. Pick up a wooden shovel, push the scattered wheat into the dense gullies, and let the hot air take away the water in the wheat. This kind of work is also suitable for naughty children, who keep running around barefoot. In the solar calendar (10), the threshing floor in autumn is not as hurried as the summer harvest. The girl and daughter-in-law put the whole sesame together, waiting for the sun and autumn wind to drive the thin sesame out of the hard pod, and then concentrate on harvesting from the ground. Because at that time, every household's house was a tile house with a slope, unlike the bungalow roof that can be built now. Only on the threshing floor will there be a flat ground, so anyone who needs to harvest crops should be on the threshing floor. Later, when cotton is planted, the drying list will be covered with cotton clouds. Aunties will sit next to the drying list and pick out defective cotton. Finally, pack the big white cotton and send it to the supply and marketing cooperative. Farming this year is coming to an end.

? Off-season paradise. After the new wheat was planted, the threshing floor became an activity ground again. Movies and acting in the village are basically here, and most children learn their bicycles here. Boys push hoops, play with gyroscopes, play with glass balls, and have cockfights ... Girls play badminton and drill rope skipping ... because only here can there be a flat and wide ground. The streets in the village are either too narrow or bumpy. Gradually, the streets in the village have been leveled, and the threshing floor has long been distributed to households, converted into farmhouses or re-cultivated. The past on the threshing floor is becoming clearer and clearer, as if it were yesterday.
