Chapter XX Litigation of Juvenile Criminal Cases

Article 481 Where the juvenile defendant or his legal representative refuses the defender to defend in court, the provisions of the first and second paragraphs of Article 254 of this Interpretation shall apply.

In the case of multiple defendants, if some defendants refuse to be defended by defenders, and there is no defender, the defendant can be dealt with separately according to the circumstances of the case, and the trials of other defendants will continue.

Article 466 When trying a juvenile criminal case, the people's court shall notify the legal representative of the juvenile defendant to be present for interrogation and trial. If the legal representative is unable to notify, attend the scene or commit a crime, he may also notify other adult relatives of the juvenile defendant, representatives of grass-roots organizations in his school, unit and place of residence or organizations for the protection of minors to attend the scene, and record the relevant information.

Article 467 A case in which the defendant is under the age of 18 at the time of hearing shall not be heard in public. With the consent of the minor defendant and his legal representative, the school to which the minor defendant belongs and the minor protection organization may send representatives to be present. The number and scope of representatives present shall be decided by the court. Representatives present may, with the consent of the court, participate in court education for juvenile defendants.

Cases that are tried in public according to law, but may need to be sealed with criminal records, shall not be organized to attend.
