Beijing Legal Aid Center is a legal aid institution established by Beijing Municipal Government, under the leadership of Beijing Municipal Bureau of Justice. 1996,1/kloc-0 was established in June, and 1997 was officially put into operation in June. Its main duties are: coordinating, supervising and organizing the implementation of legal aid work in this Municipality, uniformly accepting criminal legal aid cases designated by the people's courts, accepting and examining applications for civil and administrative legal aid, and assigning legal aid personnel to implement legal aid.
At present, Beijing Legal Aid Center has 13 staff. The center consists of five departments: office, business department, finance department, foundation and "148" office. The main responsibilities of each department are:
Office: responsible for granting subsidies for legal aid cases; Responsible for the propaganda work of the center; Arrange the duty and reception of legal aid lawyers.
Business department: responsible for reviewing legal aid affairs and assigning, guiding and supervising law firms to undertake legal aid cases; Carry out legal aid research.
Finance department: responsible for the daily finance of the center and the financial work of the foundation; Do a good job in granting legal aid cases.
Foundation: raising, managing and using legal aid funds; Providing material support for the implementation of legal aid; Publicize the legal aid system and promote judicial justice.
"148" office: responsible for managing the "148" office and "148" legal service professional network in Beijing; External publicity; Statistical analysis; Maintain the operation of the legal aid website.
After the establishment of the center, all the staff devoted themselves to legal aid work with great enthusiasm and selfless dedication, and actively organized lawyers to carry out legal aid work. By the end of September, 2003, the center had handled 4,396 legal aid cases free of charge, including 36,965,438 criminal aid cases and 705 civil cases, organized lawyers to participate in legal aid reception and answered 98,624 consultations. The Municipal Legal Aid Center * * * received the pennant 15 and 35 thank-you letters, and won compensation of nearly14.9 million yuan for the parties, which achieved good social effects. Through successfully handling a large number of reception consultation and legal aid cases, the legitimate rights and interests of the parties have been effectively safeguarded, judicial justice has been promoted, and positive contributions have been made to the social and political stability of the capital.
