Early life
His father became rich by doing business. In order to avoid risks, he settled in Daquanyan Village, Huaide County, Jilin Province (now Daquanyan Village, Nanwaizi Town, Gongzhuling City). Yu Fengzhi, 1897 (23rd year of Guangxu reign in Qing dynasty), was born in Daquanyan village. He entered a private school at the age of five and went to Zhengjiatun at the age of nine. 1 1 years old, her parents were engaged to Zhang Xueliang, who was three years younger than her. 19 13 was admitted to Fengtian Women's Normal School and finally graduated with honors. 19 15 married Zhang Xueliang. Zhang, the only daughter of Zhang Xueliang, was born in 19 16.
marry
Zhang Xueliang's wife, Yu Fengzhi, is the most valued by Zhang Zuo Lin among the young women in the Zhangjia Courtyard. This is not only because of his daughter-in-law's excellent appearance, but also because he cherishes his old friendship with his father. At the beginning of the 20th century, Zhang was cared for by Yu, president of Lishu County Chamber of Commerce, while wandering in the grass in Shan Ye. By chance, Zhang learned that her daughter "has a deep family fortune, but it is the life of a phoenix." Zhang is a rather conceited person. He is convinced that "a suitable family" and "a daughter deserves a phoenix's life" are rare marriages, and they will be rich and expensive after marriage. From then on, he made a wish: once in power, his son would marry his daughter to repay him. Later, Zhang became the overseer of Fengtian, so that Zhang Xueliang married Yu's daughter and became his daughter-in-law. Yu Fengzhi is beautiful and wise, and Pu Jie Aisingiorro once praised Yu Fengzhi as "beautiful". She was born with a very classical face, delicate and pretty, just like a lotus flower blooming in the lotus pond after the rain.
The marriage between Zhang Xueliang and Zhang was arranged by Zhang. Zhang Xueliang was not satisfied with this marriage at first, so he opposed it. Xueliang followed his father to live in Fengtian, the provincial capital, and began to learn English. In the process, he made many friends in England and America. Western ideas of "democracy and freedom" filled his mind, so he hated "parents' orders" and "matchmaker's words" in marriage.
When Zhang was not interested in his son, he took a compromise attitude. He said to Zhang Xueliang, "You must listen to me. If you don't agree with the old-fashioned marriage, after you marry your daughter, just ask your daughter-in-law to follow your mother (referring to Mrs. Shilu). I don't care if you find another woman outside. " Zhang Xueliang had no choice but to agree to this marriage.
Zhang Xueliang married Yu Fengzhi at the age of 15. Zhang Xueliang, a senior in Yu Fengzhi, is 3 years old this year, so Zhang Xueliang has always called Yu Fengzhi her sister since her marriage. The harmony of marriage depends largely on the personal accomplishment and maturity of both parties. Yu Fengzhi is not unaware of Zhang Xueliang's extramarital affairs, and sometimes she doesn't like it in her heart. But because of her good family education and personal self-restraint, she always knows the overall situation and takes care of the overall situation, so she still cultivates and waters their marriage tree wholeheartedly, giving outsiders the feeling that their husband and wife are also harmonious and happy. In Shuaifu Courtyard, Yu Fengzhi is a junior, but she is polite, well-read, charitable and considerate, but she has erected an admirable monument for herself.
Yu Fengzhi is methodical and insightful at home, and people are willing to discuss problems with her. Even Zhang Xuezeng and Zhang Huaiyun wanted to give Mrs. Xu a birthday drink and ask her for advice. Among Zhang's wives, Mrs. Lu is highly respected. She admires the virtue of taking Guan Ying, studying hard and learning Ming as her own, so she has been looking for opportunities to repay her. And Mrs Lu is like a mother and daughter. She is not only respectful and dedicated to her relatives, but also does not put a rich family on her servants. Yu Fengzhi is approachable, and all the servants of Shuaifu are willing to approach her.
Since he entered the Shuaifu, he has won the trust and praise of everyone with his unique solemnity, introversion and kindness, which makes Zhang and his son sit up and take notice of this woman. Zhang married as a daughter-in-law. The original idea was simple. First of all, he wanted to repay Wendu for saving his life in this way. Second, I hope my daughter can bring good luck to her son. I didn't expect a daughter-in-law to have many virtues: respecting the old and loving the young, caring for her husband and educating her children, being kind to her servants, and being smart and wise. According to his own experience, if a woman is virtuous and intelligent, she can give full play to a man's greatest strengths. On the contrary, women's stupidity and stubbornness will also greatly weaken men's strength. The relationship between husband and wife is like a bow and arrow, the husband is like an arrow and the wife is like a bow. If the bow is broken, the arrow won't come out. Xueliang is really blessed to marry such a good daughter-in-law. But I also promised to learn to find women outside. Zhang felt a little sorry for the child, so in the days to come, he paid special attention and looked up. It is said that Zhang gave his daughter-in-law a special face. When he was angry at ordinary times, others were afraid to come forward, so Yu Fengzhi advised him to calm down.
In the long years after her marriage with Yu Fengzhi, Zhang Xueliang was more and more moved by her kindness, understanding and infatuation. They got married in 19 16, when discerning was only 15 years old and Yu Fengzhi was only 18 years old. After marriage, Yu Fengzhi has a dual identity: she is both a wife and a sister. As a wife, she has noticed that discerning is not single-minded to her and lives with other women. In the face of these, she didn't cry, and she didn't blame him sharply. Instead, she silently buried her bitterness in her heart and still obeyed her studies with a gentle face. As the eldest sister, she took care of him in every way, asking questions about the cold and warmth, without complaining. From 65438 to 0927, Zhang Xueliang met Miss Zhao Si, and they fell in love at first sight. There was a lot of noise. In the face of her husband's lover, Yu Fengzhi did not lose her former demeanor and treated her like a sister. All these made Zhang Xueliang deeply moved and admired. Therefore, Zhang Xueliang suggested to Zhao Yidi that if she was willing to follow him, there would be no wife's name. To foreigners, she is called her own secretary, while in China, she can be called a waitress. After that, the three of them went in and out together and lived happily together. Anyone who has contacts with Zhang Xueliang envies his beautiful family and says that he has two good wives.
1after the peaceful settlement of the "Xi incident" at the end of 936, Chiang Kai-shek detained Zhang Xueliang. At that time, Yu Fengzhi was studying in San Francisco with her children. After learning the news, she immediately sent a telegram to Song Ziwen, saying that she was "worried about her poor performance at school". I hope Song Ziwen can help with this matter. Later, she took her children from San Francisco to Nanjing with anxiety to see Chiang Kai-shek. Jiang refused to meet. I have no choice but to ask my mother to come forward (Song's mother was worshipped as a foster mother in her early years, and Song's mother also regarded her as her fourth daughter), and please help him with Chiang's work. Chiang Kai-shek is still merciless. First, Zhang Xueliang 10 was sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment by a high-level military court, and then he was placed under house arrest for a long time. For this matter, he resigned as finance minister in a rage and lost his temper with Jiang. Yu Fengzhi rescued Zhang Xueliang after many twists and turns, and came to the United States again with his children because he was in urgent need of medical treatment and considering their future.
Zhang Xueliang lived in Wuling School during his confinement in Xikou. Two days later, he moved to Xuedou Mountain China Travel Agency Guest House, which is five or six miles away from Wuling School. Since then, the authorities have allowed Zhang Xueliang's wives, Yu Fengzhi and Miss Zhao Si, to live with him. After discussion, they changed once a month and took turns to accompany Zhang Xueliang. Yu Fengzhi came to Ningbo by boat from Shanghai, while Miss Zhao Si went to Shanghai from Ningbo. Sometimes they will stay with Zhang Xueliang for a few days.
At the right time, Zhang Lvlin, the only son of Miss Zhao Si and Zhang Xueliang (who later worked as an engineer for NASA in the United States), was still young, which was the age when she needed her mother to take care of her. In order to let Miss Zhao Si better raise her young son, Yu Fengzhi persuaded Miss Zhao Si to go back to Shanghai to live alone. During the next three years of confinement, she moved from Xikou to Jiangxi and Hunan, and her body and mind were greatly hurt, and her breast ulcer became more and more serious. Zhang Xueliang proposed to Dai Li, director of the Military Bureau, that Yu Fengzhi should go out for treatment and let Miss Zhao Si take care of her life. Chiang Kai-shek approved Zhang Xueliang's request, and since then, heaven and man have been separated forever.
Stock market war
After leaving the hospital, I temporarily lived in my daughter Zhang Jia. Under the careful care of her daughter and son-in-law, Yu Fengzhi recovered quickly. Zhang invited a tutor to help her with her English. During her treatment, her daily oral English is no longer a problem. After the professional guidance of her tutor, she quickly mastered English listening, speaking, reading and writing. As her body gradually recovered, Yu Fengzhi began to re-examine her life. She found that she had too many things to do, and the most important thing was to make money. Although relying on Iago's support, she has weathered the storm temporarily, but if this continues, it will be an empty bag. Her husband is released far away, and living in the United States needs money. Children need money to go to school and see a doctor. For the first time in her life, Yu Fengzhi felt that money was so important to her. In her memoirs, Yu Fengzhi described her feelings when she first walked into the lobby of the Wall Street Stock Exchange. When she first came to America, the enthusiastic Lena once took her to the lobby of the Wall Street Stock Exchange. Lena told her that this is a crazy place. Some people can become millionaires overnight, while others can become poor in a blink of an eye. Looking for vitality everywhere, Yu Fengzhi first thought of this stock hall. Others can become millionaires through stock trading. Why can't I? As for whether she can be poor, she has never thought about it. She only remembers what her father said that year: "If a daughter is in business, she must be a good hand." In this way, Yu Fengzhi broke into the stock market with a sense of helplessness and confidence. Relying on the educational foundation of the Law Department of Northeastern University, inheriting the business genes of Yu, the father of a wealthy businessman, and the mind and courage of the First Lady of Northeast China, she quickly broke into her own world in the stock market, and successfully dug up the first bucket of gold in her career with ease in the ups and downs of the stock market. Some people say that the Wall Street stock market is full of gamblers. But Yu Fengzhi has the courage of a gambler, but not the madness of a gambler. Every time there is a surplus in the stock market, she buys real estate for rent, and gradually has some stable income, so she no longer has to worry about money.
Seek medical treatment in the United States
When the Xi Incident happened, Yu Fengzhi had just arrived in the UK from Xi 'an. His daughter Zhang Luying, his son Zhang Lvxun and Zhang Ai had stayed in the UK since Zhang Xueliang 1933 went abroad and traveled around Europe with their families. Yu Fengzhi, who was arranging for her children to study in Britain, immediately sent a telegram to Song Ziwen asking him to protect Zhang Xueliang's safety and hurried to China. When Yu Fengzhi came to Nanking with anxiety, Zhang Xueliang was already in custody. After that, she accompanied Zhang Xueliang from Nanjing to Fenghua in Zhejiang, Huangshan in Anhui, Pingxiang in Jiangxi, Chenzhou in Hunan and Yuanling, and 1940 transferred to Yangming Cave in Xiuwen, Guizhou. During their four years in prison, Yu Fengzhi and Zhang Xueliang both experienced a sudden change from deputy commander to captive, and spent more than 1000 days and nights. The vagaries of life, harassment and abuse by spies, and depression are slowly eroding Yu Fengzhi's weak body. 1940 In the spring, Yu Fengzhi was diagnosed with breast cancer.
For people in the 1940s, getting breast cancer was equivalent to being sentenced to death. In desperation, Zhang Xueliang and his wife turned to Song Meiling for help. Under the coordination of Song Meiling, Yu Fengzhi took Zhang Xueliang's maid and an adjutant from Shanghai to the United States for medical treatment. Before leaving, Zhang Xueliang told her that their old friend, former US Ambassador to Beijing Zhan Sen Kennedy and his wife Lena would help arrange medical treatment. At new york Kennedy International Airport, Yu Fengzhi was warmly received by Zhan Sen Kennedy and his wife Lena as soon as he got off the plane. In front of them, Yu Fengzhi didn't feel the slightest contempt. They helped Yu Fengzhi arrange accommodation and contacted the hospital-harkness Church Hospital of Columbia Presbyterian Medical Research Center in the suburb of New York.
In this famous church hospital, Winston Bill, a famous oncologist, was in charge of treating Yu Fengzhi. After X-ray examination confirmed the exact location of the left breast lesion, Bill decided to take conservative treatment, so that Yu Fengzhi could still keep his original figure after operation. In the past year, Dr. Bill has performed three difficult tumor resection operations for Yu Fengzhi, and successfully removed three pebbles-sized tumors in the left breast. Although three operations are too troublesome, they can reduce the wounds outside the breast.
However, due to the metastasis of cancer cells, a year later, Bill had to propose a treatment plan to remove the whole left breast. Yu Fengzhi stubbornly deadlocked for several months at first to save his left chest. Later, under the strong persuasion of Mr. and Mrs. Zhan Sen Kennedy, Yu Fengzhi finally compromised and agreed to Dr. Bill's suggestion of removing the left chest.
Postoperative chemotherapy is slow and painful. During chemotherapy, Yu Fengzhi almost lost all his hair, and he became more haggard and weak. He is always skinny and weighs less than 45 kilograms. Fortunately, his life was finally saved.
After divorce
In the 20 years that Yu Fengzhi and Zhang Xueliang lived together, they experienced ups and downs. She gave him everything she could: time, care, consideration, love and help ... After Zhang Xueliang went to Taiwan Province Province, he believed in Christianity and was baptized. According to Christian canon, married men are only allowed to have one wife. Song Meiling used this as an excuse to coerce Zhang Xueliang to divorce Yu Fengzhi with political skill, so as to cut off the reason why Zhang Xueliang applied to visit relatives and settle in the United States. How could Yu Can Feng Zhi not know this? In desperation, I signed a divorce agreement. However, after the formal divorce, I still regard myself as Mrs. Zhang; The title of Zhang Xueliang's letter to her has not changed since the divorce; On the Christmas card that Song Meiling sends her every year, the title is still Mrs. Zhang. The reason is: On July 1964 and 1 day, Taiwan Province Hope magazine published the confession of the incident concocted by the Chiang family and his son through a long letter from Zhang Xueliang. At that time, Yu Fengzhi, the wife of Zhang Xueliang, who was recuperating in Los Angeles, was particularly shocked and angry when she heard the news, because she read the confession of the Xi incident between the lines. This strange thing suddenly reminded her of some secret conversations with Zhang Xueliang in Guizhou in 1940.
At that time, Yu Fengzhi was diagnosed with cancer in his left chest in a secluded place in Guizhou, and went to the United States for medical treatment with the help of Song Meiling. Before leaving, Zhang Xueliang told her: I'm going to the United States for medical treatment, and I don't want to go back to Guizhou whether my condition improves or not in the future. He hoped that after Yu Fengzhi arrived in the United States, he would try to transfer several children who were studying in Britain to the United States to continue their studies. Of course, the deeper meaning of Zhang's move is that Chiang Kai-shek will eradicate the roots one day, and going to the United States can save the "bone blood" and "connections" for the Zhang family. When talking about whether I can see Yu Fengzhi in the United States in the future, Zhang Xueliang told her that as long as Chiang Kai-shek is alive, he will never have a bright future. And as long as he has a breath, it is absolutely impossible for him to "plead guilty." For the above reasons, when she heard that Zhang Xueliang's Confessions of the An Incident was published in the United States on 1964, her first impression was that Zhang Xueliang's Confessions of the An Incident were fake, even forged by Chiang Kai-shek and secret agents in the name of Zhang. However, this time Yu Fengzhi was really wrong. Because she never dreamed that the so-called Confessions of the Xi Incident, which was published in Hope and soon ordered to be withdrawn by Taiwan Province Province, was not only written by Zhang Xueliang himself, but also had to be written at the request of Chiang Kai-shek. However, this long article about Chiang Kai-shek's "Xi Incident" in Shanghai was not based on "confessions", but was formed in the form of "memoirs" and "long letters". After this letter was sent out, it was used by some people with ulterior motives in Taiwan Province Province, labeled as a "confession" and vilified Zhang Xueliang.
Yu Fengzhi, who didn't know the truth, started a media war in the United States. The LA Sun first published Yu Fengzhi's remarks, and then attacked Taiwan Province. Later, The New York Times also published a long article criticizing the long-term detention of Zhang Xueliang in Taiwan Province Province. Because of Zhang Xueliang's political influence in the West and Ms. Yu Fengzhi's request for help in Taiwan Province Province, she "forged" the confession of the Xi Incident among members of Congress and the upper class of the judiciary, which soon caused a very unfavorable momentum for Chiang Kai-shek. In this way, the authorities in Taiwan Province Province were strongly dissatisfied with Yu Fengzhi, including not only Chiang Kai-shek and his son, but even Song Meiling, who has always been Yu Fengzhi's sister and is famous for her communication. Therefore, Chiang Kai-shek intends to change his view on Zhang Xueliang's handling: instead of being confined for a long time to cause trouble, it is better to cut the gordian knot quickly to avoid endless future troubles. This is the political background that Zhang Xueliang and Yu Fengzhi must dissolve the relationship between husband and wife.
According to the newly discovered historical data, it was not Song Meiling mentioned in the previous literature that really realized that Zhang Xueliang and Yu Fengzhi had to divorce and urged Yu Fengzhi to divorce immediately, but Mr. Zhang Qun, Zhang Xueliang's close friend for many years. As early as 1929, Zhang Qun was appointed by Chiang Kai-shek to go to Shenyang in the northeast on the eve of Zhang Xueliang's flag change. One of the important factors why Zhang Xueliang decided to follow his father's footsteps so quickly was that he followed the advice of Zhang Qun, the special envoy of Nanjing government. For more than twenty years, Zhang Xueliang suffered from the "Xi incident" and lost his freedom. Due to various political reasons, Zhang Qun was temporarily alienated from Zhang Xueliang, who was imprisoned, but still maintained spiritual contact. 1959 After Zhang Xueliang moved back to Taipei from Kaohsiung, Zhang Qun became a guest of Zhang Zhai again. This time, Zhang Xueliang and Yu Fengzhi divorced. Why did Zhang Qun, an important political figure in Taiwan Province Province, start to divorce? Zhang Qun inquired about Zhang Xueliang's family affairs and was willing to go to the United States to lobby Yu Fengzhi to sign a divorce agreement. There is an important reason at work. This is Yu Fengzhi's many conversations with the media after hearing that Zhang Xueliang published Confessions of the Xi Incident in the United States. In the United States, the appeal to members of the Senate and the House of Representatives to save Zhang failed to save Zhang Xueliang and let Zhang Xueliang come to the United States to reunite with her one day, and even objectively produced side effects that she never dreamed of. That is, although Yu Fengzhi knew that Chiang Kai-shek was afraid of the United States, he didn't know that Chiang Kai-shek was afraid of the intervention of American forces, and suddenly he just lifted the confinement, and he was also highly concerned by Zhang Xueliang, a stubborn "Northeast Tiger" in Chiang's eyes. Chiang Kai-shek always thought that as long as Zhang and Yu's biological children were still in the United States, Zhang Xueliang's heart would always yearn for the United States, which was undoubtedly a posterior approach for Zhang Xueliang in the future. However, Chiang Kai-shek, who has been in poor health, can't help worrying about a fact that he doesn't want to see a hundred years later: the "Northeast Tiger" will fly out of Taiwan Province Province one day and then go to Chinese mainland after flying to the United States!
Chiang Kai-shek summoned Zhang Xueliang, who was imprisoned in the Daxi Pavilion in Taiwan Province Province in the 1960s, and later agreed to the suggestion that Zhang should be moved back to Taipei from Kaohsiung, which was entirely based on the mediating role of Zhang, and of course, his son's lobbying factors were also involved in the later period. Otherwise, according to Chiang Kai-shek's previous ideas, I am afraid that Zhang Xueliang will be imprisoned to death. Therefore, in 1964, when Chiang learned of the pressure in the United States, he hated lobbying for Zhang everywhere, and at the same time remembered Zhang Xueliang, who was still living in seclusion in Taipei. Chiang Kai-shek even sprouted the evil idea of making Zhang Xueliang the second Yang Hu city. As a senior figure in the Kuomintang regime, Zhang Qun was of course the first person to know the evil thoughts in Chiang Kai-shek's mind. For the safety of Zhang Xueliang's life, Zhang Qun thought it necessary for Zhang Xueliang to understand the reality that if he continued to maintain this husband-wife relationship with Yu Fengzhi in name only, it would probably bring unexpected trouble to Zhang Xueliang's full freedom. Zhang Qun also mentioned Zhang Xueliang's good friend Zhang Daqian's hope for Zhang: Give Miss a deserved birthright as soon as possible! Zhang Qun's consideration was positively endorsed by Song Meiling. Zhang Xueliang also expressed his understanding and approval of this goodwill. So Zhang Qun flew to the United States privately from Taiwan Province Province, and secretly came to Yu Fengzhi's residence in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, to explain to her the proximate cause and future benefits of divorcing Zhang Xueliang. Yu Fengzhi said in his memoir: "I think twice that they will never give Han Qing freedom. Han Qing is a caged bird, and they will crush him at any moment. If this method fails, they will change to another method. In order to protect the security of Han Qing, I signed the dictator. But I want to explain to the world that I don't recognize the so-called illegal divorce imposed on me ... "
What happened afterwards?
1On July 4th, 964, 64-year-old Zhang Xueliang officially married 53-year-old Zhao Yidi with the consent of Yu Fengzhi in the United States. After more than 20 years of isolation, they got married at the home of Jimmy Eldou, an American on Hangzhou South Road in Taipei. Eldo is an old friend of Zhang Xueliang, and the witness is Pastor Chen Weiping who is over 100 years old. The witness of this woman is Huang. 13 guests are Song Meiling, Zhang Qun, Wang Xinheng, Mo Dehui, He Shili and Feng Yong. Ms Yu Fengzhi never saw Zhang Xueliang again until her death, which became the biggest regret in her life. 1on March 20th, 990, Yu Fengzhi died peacefully in his sleep.
