Brief introduction of Lama Temple
Lama Temple is a rare royal monastery of Gelug Sect of Tibetan Buddhism in Beijing. Historically, it was the residence of Yin, the fourth son of the Qing Dynasty, and the birthplace of Emperor Qianlong. Later, it was changed to Huangjiao Temple, and the incense was very strong. There are many precious ancient buildings and cultural relics in the temple, which are worth visiting.
As a temple, the Lama Temple is characterized by the integration of Han Buddhism and Tibetan Buddhism. When you visit the Lama Temple, you can see Maitreya Buddha, the belly Buddha of Han Buddhism, and the gilded bronze statue of Zong Kaba, a master of Tibetan Buddhism. In addition, the arrangement of the four heavenly kings in the King Temple and the "Three Buddhas" in the main hall of the Lama Temple is also different from that in the Han Temple.
There are also treasures donated by the Tibetan local government to the royal family and temples in the Qing Dynasty (some collections can be seen in the Panchen Hall and Jietai Hall). There are many Buddha statues, Thangka and a large number of precious cultural relics in the temple.
The main buildings of the Lama Temple include memorial archway, Zhaotaimen, Tianwang Hall, Lama Temple Hall, You Yongzhi Hall, Falun Hall, Wanfuge Hall, Panchen Hall, Jietai Hall, East-West Hall and Four Schools Hall. You can visit the Lama Temple along the central axis. The scenic roads are not complicated, and it is easy to find temples.
