Dalian Ocean University is the only multi-disciplinary institution of higher learning in the north of China, featuring marine fisheries, with the coordinated development of agriculture, engineering, science, management, literature, law, economics, art and other disciplines. The school was founded in 1952, formerly known as Northeast Fisheries Technical School. 1958 was upgraded to Dalian Fisheries College, and 1978 was upgraded to Dalian Fisheries College. In 2000, it was placed under the management of Liaoning Province by the Ministry of Agriculture. 20 10 was renamed Dalian Ocean University with the approval of the Ministry of Education.
The school is located in the beautiful coastal city of Dalian. There are three campuses: Huanghai Campus, Bohai Campus and Wafangdian Campus, covering an area of 740,000 square meters, with a sea area of 670,000 square meters for teaching and research and a total construction area of 400,000 square meters. The school now has 15 college and 1 teaching department. There are nearly 1200 faculty members, and more than 6000 full-time students/kloc-0. There are 12 master's degree authorization points for first-class disciplines, 46 master's degree authorization points for two disciplines, 7 master's degree authorization categories, 22 fields and 52 undergraduate majors.
