The world women's football team finally ushered in a brand-new day at19911,when FIFA President Havelange (Dr. Joe? Havelange), the first Women's World Cup was born. People's Republic of China (PRC) hosted the competition, and many enthusiastic spectators came to the stadium to cheer for the women's football team. The first World Cup brought together 12 teams and achieved unprecedented success.
In order to embody the purpose of hosting the Women's World Cup, FIFA arranged for six women to join the referee team for the first time in history, among which Claudia Desailos, a Brazilian who served as the referee for three or four finals, became the first female referee to appear in the World Cup.
The American team, led by the vanguard group called "Three Musketeers" by China media, won the first Women's World Cup with great strides. Three strikers, michelle akers, Karin Jennings and april heinrichs, contributed 20 of the 25 goals scored by the US team. In the semi-final 5-2 victory over Germany, Dzhanis scored three goals and Heinrich scored two others. In the final, the United States beat Norway 2-/kloc-0, and Achilles scored two goals.
In Group A, Norway lost to host China 0-4 in the first game. However, it rebounded strongly afterwards. First, Italy was eliminated by overtime in the 1/4 final, and then Sweden was defeated by Linda Medalen's two goals 4- 1 in the semi-final and finally entered the final. On the other hand, China was unlucky. The Danish team drew 2-2 in the group stage and lost to Sweden 0-1 in the final, thus missing the semi-finals, which is also the worst record in the history of women's football in China.
The United States stood out in Group B, leading Sweden 3-0 in the first game and finally defeating its opponent 3-2. Then they defeated Brazil and Japan with big scores of 5-0 and 3-0 respectively, and maintained a total victory in the group stage. Later, in the final of 1/4, the United States beat China Taipei 7-0, in which Achors arranged five goals. In the semi-final, the United States beat the German team 5-2 with Dzhanis's hat trick.
Sweden also won two games in this group, and defeated China in the final of14. Pia Sundhage scored the only goal in the opening third minute, but the Norwegian team finally blocked the final.
In Group C, Germany also won all three games, ranking first in the group. The three games were 4-0, 3-0 and 2-0 respectively. Then they eliminated Denmark in the 1/4 final through overtime, and Germany lost to the United States in the semi-final.
The final drew a successful conclusion for the first Women's World Cup. Under the watchful eyes of 65,000 spectators at Tianhe Stadium in Guangzhou, the United States beat Norway 2-/kloc-0-with a last-minute goal, and won the women's world cup for the first time. With only three minutes left in the game, Norwegian defender Tina Svencen defended against the goalkeeper's mistake, and the sudden Arcos intercepted the ball and passed the goalkeeper Leighton Seth. A low flat ball rolled into the empty net from the right foot of the goal, which ushered in the first championship in football history for the United States.
