Xi Vocational and Technical College, the predecessor of Xi Workers Amateur University, was founded in 1953, which is one of the earlier adult colleges in China. In 2004, with the approval of the Shaanxi Provincial People's Government and the record of the Ministry of Education, it was upgraded to a full-time general college and renamed xi 'an Vocational and Technical College.
