A dazzling, the last time I heard the information of Toyota electric vehicles intensively was at the Tokyo Auto Show a year ago. At that time, Toyota executives released a set of Toyota global electrification strategic routes in one breath. In a bunch of technical abbreviations such as HEV (hybrid power), PHEV (plug-in hybrid power) and FCV (hydrogen fuel cell) that Toyota is good at, you will find that EV (pure electricity) has been impressive.
Next, there is a global epidemic, and you and I are both in it. Just when everyone thought that the world was still stopping, and even the Tokyo Olympic Games were postponed to 202 1, Toyota, which has always been labeled as "slow" and "cautious", launched its pure electric vehicle in the China market, and three models-Lexus UX300e/ Toyota C-HR EV/ Yize E entered the engine.
They, of course, have become the protagonists of Toyota's technical space in 2020 this year.
Since 20 14, the annual Toyota Technology Space has been a display platform for Toyota's main force and forward-looking technology. Turbocharging, Hybrid Electric Vehicle, PHEV, FCV…… ............................................................................................................................................................... However, in 2020, Toyota's technical space has undergone great changes because of the emergence of EV pure trams. In the past, the static form was mainly workshop and indoor display, and this year, the test drive link was added. From the venue to the road, three EVS are free to taste.
The form has changed, of course because the content has changed. As the Chinese and western engineers in charge of EV development at Toyota headquarters said:
"These simple numbers don't represent the whole electric car."
Therefore, the difference between Toyota EV electric cars is that you need to drive on the road to really experience it. So there is our first impression of Toyota's three electric vehicles:
The electric version is even easier to drive than the fuel version.
This is a sentence that I blurted out after every test drive.
Toyota's three pure trams are still based on TNGA platform, corresponding to their respective fuel versions: Yize, C-HR and Lexus UX. These fuel models have been tried many times before, but they are actually impressed by the improvement of driving feeling after TNGA blessing.
This time, in the test drive in the technical space, Toyota did not hesitate to test drive the fuel version and the pure electric vehicle respectively, which really made people fall in love with its pure electric appearance immediately. Especially in the venue and track, the driving experience of the electric version gives you a feeling of Toyota TNGA Plus, and the power and handling stability have been significantly improved.
The power forms of the two versions on the same platform are not new, but I have tried many similar models before. I will always remember the fuel version after driving an electric car, but Toyota has managed to turn some necessary features of electric cars into design advantages. For example, most manufacturers choose to put the battery in the chassis area, but under the design and training of Toyota, installing the battery pack under the chassis can make the center of gravity of the car lower, thus further improving its handling on the basis of the fuel version.
According to different driving scenarios, Toyota has improved the torsional performance of the chassis. In terms of power output, high starting torque is the characteristic of motor. Most brands have turned it into a selling point for speeding up, but it is often weak in the middle and high-speed stage. But in Toyota, the high torque of 300 Nm was controlled, and there was no motion sickness at first, but there was still enough acceleration power when it exceeded 130KM.
They are Toyota first, then electric cars.
This sentence runs through the whole 2020 Toyota technical space activities. Similarly, the UX300e must be a Lexus first, and then an electric car.
This is not the first time I have heard this statement. BBA electric vehicle products unveiled last year are all showing this concept, which has indeed become the biggest difference between traditional car-making enterprises and emerging car-making forces such as Tesla in the concept of car-making after the transformation of electric strategy. The latter doesn't matter, the appearance of the first electric car is the appearance of the brand; Therefore, whether it is a big screen or autonomous driving, it is a selling point.
When I arrived at Toyota EV, what I blurted out was safety and peace of mind.
At present, among the three EV models on sale in China, the time on the road can only be recorded by months, but I dare to define them confidently, just because they are Toyota, which may be the so-called brand power.
Of course, Toyota, which has always been rational, is not that big. In the explanation part of this technical space, most of them also talk about battery safety, such as ingenious anti-collision design, structure integrated with the car body, and triple monitoring and management to ensure battery safety to the maximum extent. Of course, fire prevention and waterproof, high temperature and high pressure, and collision tests from different angles are also essential.
Of course, for many users of Toyota's twin engines, this kind of safety is easier to understand, because Toyota has been studying batteries, electric drives and electronic controls for more than 20 years, and Toyota's core three-electric technology has developed to the fourth generation. Judging from years of electric experience, Toyota is not a latecomer in the field of electric vehicles, but a leader.
Selling one or two electric cars is not all Toyota wants.
Judging from the pricing of three electric vehicles announced at present, Toyota's entry point in the domestic electric vehicle market should not be the strategy of occupying the market at a low price, and it seems that Toyota does not intend to win praise from the circle with some beautiful parameters. All this is just like when it promoted the HEV twin-engine model. It is low-key and conservative, and intends to continue to use time to win word of mouth. It's really Toyota.
However, judging from the current situation that Toyota products are still selling well in such a national market, this "word of mouth" strategy is quite effective. After all, in my opinion, driving a car safely and reliably is the most valuable trait. It is important for Toyota to sell electric cars, but what kind of reputation it can leave among users may be what Toyota is most concerned about at present.
For Toyota, which does not need IPO and has abundant secondary cash flow, even if its market value is surpassed by Tesla, it is not so important. Now it seems that they have more important things to do, that is, to truly popularize electric vehicles around the world. For this reason, I even saw Toyota advance the original plan by five years for the first time, which is simply too Toyota.
After these three electric vehicles appear in China market, we will also see the birth of an electric vehicle based on a brand-new platform in the future. It is said that the second-generation FCV Mirai has entered the road test stage, and Toyota China has become a circle of friends based on hydrogen fuel power research and development in China. ...
Compared with the calmness in vehicle marketing, the road of Toyota EV has begun to accelerate, which may be just to realize what Toyota has always said:
