Chestnut, dicotyledonous plant, Castanea of Fagaceae. Alias Dali and Li Kui. Originated in China. Trees, up to 10 m. Branches are dense, branchlets and new branches are pubescent. The leaves are oblong-lanceolate, with sharp serrated edges and stellate villi on the back. Monoecious, the male flower is catkin. The involucre has dense needles and contains 2~3 nuts. The fruit is large, oblate and easy to peel. Chestnuts are delicious and of good quality, which is the best among edible chestnuts.
