What will a first-class cost engineer do in various majors?

First-class cost engineers have four majors: civil engineering, installation, water conservancy and transportation. The analysis of the examination difficulty of each major is as follows:

1, majoring in civil engineering

It mainly carries out cost budget, project settlement, cost monitoring, project change and visa audit, and the work units are generally construction units and consulting units. Civil engineering is a major with more applicants and more employment opportunities among cost engineers. After all, commercial buildings and houses are just needed now.

2. Installation specialty

Mainly responsible for water supply, drainage, reclaimed water, fire water, fire alarm, ventilation, air conditioning water, cooling water, power, lighting, lightning protection and grounding, weak current system, gas, heat, water purification system, sewage treatment system, power distribution system, boilers, generator sets, elevators, etc.

Judging from the current employment situation, the employment scope of installation specialty is not as good as that of civil engineering, but the employees of cost engineers are very scarce now, because installation requires high knowledge of cost personnel and certain requirements for professionalism, so fewer people apply for installation.

3. Water conservancy major

Mainly for water conservancy construction project proposal investment estimation, feasibility study investment estimation, preliminary design estimate, commercial terms of bidding documents, pre-tender estimate, project management budget and price difference calculation in construction implementation stage, budget estimate in final accounts report and contract execution.

Water conservancy cost engineers are generally employed in state-owned enterprises or institutions, which may be relatively stable.

4. Transportation major

Cost engineers of the Ministry of Communications pay more attention to highway tunnel cost projects, and their salary levels are similar to those of water conservancy majors.
