1946 was admitted to study abroad at public expense; The following year, my wife Min and I went to Switzerland for further study. 1On October 6th, Zhu Xia and his wife resolutely suspended their studies and returned to the motherland. After returning to China, he helped build Zhejiang Geological Survey Institute in Hangzhou and served as deputy director. 195 1 went to Shanghai to participate in the preparation of the Geological Department of East China Ministry of Industry. In the meantime, he wrote monographs such as Introduction to Mineral Raw Materials and Gold in China.
1953- 1954, director of the geological department of the Ministry of Geology, translated the book on theoretical problems of coal geology. During the period of 1955, the Ministry of Geology launched a national petroleum survey, and Zhu Xia volunteered to take part in and served as the chief engineer of Xinjiang Petroleum Brigade of the Ministry of Geology, leading the whole team of geologists to complete the petroleum geological survey in Junggar Basin, which laid the foundation for the discovery of Karamay Oilfield, the first large oil field after liberation in China. From 65438 to 0956, he went to Qinghai Petroleum Brigade to conduct a comprehensive oil and gas survey in Qaidam Basin, and also worked in Lunpola Basin in northern Tibet. During the period of 1958, the geological survey was extended to Qilian Mountain, the southern slope of Altun Mountain and the northern slope of Kunlun Mountain, which were all geological blank areas at that time. In order to make a general survey of metallic and nonmetallic minerals except oil, Zhu Xia also led some geologists to work in northern Tibet through Kunlun Mountain, Kekexili Mountain and Tanggula Mountain. 1959 was ordered to go to Songliao basin, and stayed there for a long time, helping to direct oil field exploration and technical work, and made important contributions.
1960 to 1962, successively served as director of petroleum research office of Institute of Geology, Ministry of Geology, and deputy chief engineer of Petroleum Geology Bureau, Beijing. During this period, the oil and gas geology of southern provinces was investigated and studied, and suggestions on exploring Paleozoic in Qilingou area of northern Shaanxi were put forward.
1962 to 1975 served as deputy director of East China Institute of Geology and Mineral Resources, Ministry of Geology, presided over the field acceptance and report review of1∶ 200,000 geological maps in East China, and extensively carried out regional geological and mineral research. In the early 1970s, he took the lead in introducing and applying the theory of plate tectonics to the study of oil and gas basins in China, and translated the rock evidence and historical examples of plate tectonics and dynamic geology, which played a positive role in promoting the spread of plate tectonics in China.
1975, at the beginning of paying attention to China's gold geological work, he put forward many valuable suggestions and consultations to the central leading comrades and made many contributions to China's gold work.
1975- 1983 served as deputy commander and chief engineer of Jiangsu petroleum exploration headquarters, and published many important papers successively, systematically discussing the oil and gas basins in China, and put forward some important suggestions such as "broad field of petroleum investigation" and "tentative plan of petroleum investigation deployment". At the same time, entrusted by the Ministry of Geology, he participated in the establishment of the Petroleum Geology Research Office of the Ministry of Geology and Minerals, conducted theoretical research on the dynamic mechanism of the formation and development of China oil and gas basins, and guided exploration decisions. He edited and published the Mesozoic-Cenozoic Basin Structure and Evolution in China. The book Sedimentary Basins in China, edited by him, was published by Else Buddha Publishing House in the Netherlands, and became the first book of "World Sedimentary Basins Series". This book is the first foreign language anthology of watershed research written by China people. His important academic views are embodied in Zhu Xia's book "Structure of Oil-bearing Basin in China", which has a wide and important influence. 1983 has been the technical consultant of Shanghai Marine Geological Survey, and made important suggestions on oil and gas exploration in the East China Sea. As an adjunct professor at Tongji University, he directed doctoral students to do research on "The Evolution of Chinese mainland's Marginal Structure".
