20 10 national college students' GIS skills competition is jointly sponsored by the talent exchange center of the Ministry of industry and information technology and the geographic information system software and its application engineering research center of the Ministry of education, supported by China Surveying and Mapping Society and the National College Students' Information Consultation and Employment Guidance Center of the Ministry of Education, and undertaken by Digital China Group.
The purpose of this competition is to stimulate college students' enthusiasm for the study, communication and application of GIS technology, promote the popularization of GIS technology in China, further promote the in-depth application of GIS technology, promote the teaching reform of GIS-related majors, enhance the employment strength of graduates, deliver more GIS talents with innovative thinking and practical ability to the society, and comprehensively promote the construction of "Digital China" and the development pace of geographic information industry.

This contest is the most authoritative GIS contest sponsored by the Talent Exchange Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Geographic Information System Software and Its Application Engineering Research Center of the Ministry of Education. Those who won the third prize in the contest can apply for the certificate of "MapGIS Application Engineer" issued by the Research Center of GIS Software and Its Application Engineering of the Ministry of Education and the grade certificate of "National GIS Application Level Examination" issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology after their application is approved by the relevant authorities. The winner of the contest can apply for the certificate of "MapGIS application engineer" issued by the GIS software and its application engineering research center of the Ministry of Education without trial.
