Wendeng apple is a specialty of Wendeng District, Weihai City, Shandong Province.

Wendeng apple planting has a long history. According to historical records, in the late Qing Dynasty, there were sporadic planting in front of and behind farm houses and fields. In the early years of the Republic of China, villagers named Tan from Dongtanjiakou introduced apple seedlings from Fuling, Yantai, and Wendeng began to have a small apple orchard.
