Intel official said that the change of CEO has nothing to do with Intel's financial performance in 2020. Intel will announce its fourth quarter results and 2020 financial report information as scheduled on June 65438+1October 2 1. In addition, Intel indicated that it has made significant progress in the 7-nanometer process technology, and will update relevant information at the earnings conference call on June 5438+1October 2 1.
Previously, Intel has always pursued technology first, but the current CEO Bob Swan is the head of Intel's first CFO. On June 20 18, Intel was appointed as interim CEO. It was not officially appointed until June 20 19, and the term of office was only two years and eight months.
Although Intel said that the coaching change has nothing to do with performance, it is undeniable that Intel failed to make key progress in the 7nm process during the tenure of Sribo. In recent years, Intel has been criticized as "squeezing toothpaste" in product release, and its stock market performance is also relatively sluggish.
At the same time, competitor AMD developed rapidly and attacked market share on a large scale. Last June, 5438+ 10, Apple released its own M 1 chip, and announced that future Macs would no longer use Intel processors with X86 architecture.
Intel, which is slowly moving forward, may have learned from a painful experience and decided to return to the mainstream of technology again, and invited Pat Kissinger, who has both technical experience and leadership, to be the eighth CEO of Intel.
Pat Kissinger worked in Intel for 30 years and was the first CTO (Chief Technology Officer) of Intel. He promoted the development of key industry technologies such as USB and Wi-Fi. As the architect of the prototype of 80486 processor, he led the development projects of 14 different microprocessors, and played a key role in the success of the product series of Core and Xeon.
In 20 12, Pat Kissinger became the CEO of VMware Wei Rui, leading the company to transform in the fields of cloud infrastructure, enterprise mobility and network security, which almost tripled the company's annual revenue.
As of press time, Intel shares rose by 6.97%.
The following is a letter from Pat Kissinger to Intel employees:
I am very excited and honored to return to Intel as CEO. /kloc-When I joined Intel at the age of 0/8, I just graduated from Lincoln Institute of Technology. During my 30 years of service for Intel, I was honored to be taught by Grove, Noyce and Moore. Intel supports my further studies at Santa Clara University and Stanford University. The company also gave me the opportunity to work with the best and brightest people in the industry at the forefront of chip innovation.
My experience at Intel has shaped my whole career, and I will always be grateful to this company. In such a critical period to promote innovation, everything is accelerating digitalization. Returning to Intel as CEO will be the greatest honor in my career.
I respect Intel's rich history and powerful technology, which have laid and will continue to shape the digital infrastructure of the world. We have an extraordinary talent team and excellent technical expertise, which is admired by the industry.
I look forward to working with all of you to continue to shape the future of technology. Intel has a profound history, and the transformation from a CPU company to a multi-architecture XPU company is also very exciting. As the world's leading semiconductor manufacturer, our opportunities are unprecedented. In the near future, I will share more thoughts about Intel's vision and strategy. At the same time, I know that we should continue to accelerate the pace of innovation, consolidate our core business and create value for shareholders, customers and employees.
I would like to thank Spirebo for his leadership and great contribution to Intel during the critical period of its transformation. I welcome his continued advice and guidance, and we will try our best to ensure seamless connection for our customers and everyone.
I believe you will have many questions about the next step, and I am looking forward to hearing them, even if I don't give all the answers on the first day. I can't wait to start this journey with you!
