The State Key Laboratory of Pattern Recognition of Chinese Academy of Sciences is the strong technical backing of Zhongke Hongba, providing continuous and timely technical support for Zhongke Hongba.

The core technology of Zhongke Hongba originates from the State Key Laboratory of Pattern Recognition. The laboratory was established in 1984, relying on the Institute of Automation of China Academy of Sciences, and it is the only national key laboratory in the field of pattern recognition in China. The laboratory began to study the core technology of iris recognition on 1998, and the research and technology are at the international leading level. At present, the laboratory has 73 fixed scientific researchers, 7 talents introduced by the "Hundred Talents Program" of Chinese Academy of Sciences and 4 winners of the National Outstanding Youth Fund. Mobile laboratory consists of postdoctoral fellows, doctors, masters, senior visiting scholars and visiting researchers, forming a well-structured research echelon with young academic leaders as the core, young scientific research backbones as the main body and high-quality graduate teams as the main force. As the earliest research team that started iris recognition research in China, the researchers led by Dr. Tan Tieniu made systematic innovations in iris recognition from the source of iris image information acquisition, from monocular to binocular, from static to dynamic, and from short distance to long distance. After three technological innovations, they completely broke through a series of key technologies in the field of iris recognition, such as imaging devices, image processing, feature extraction, recognition retrieval, security and anti-counterfeiting, and reached the world leading level. Zhongke Hongba is the industrialization base of laboratory iris recognition research results, and it is also the window for the laboratory to understand the market demand, which accelerates the transformation of iris recognition technology.
