Tongling Nonferrous Metals Group Holding Co., Ltd. was taken back by the central authorities in February 1949, formerly known as Tongguanshan Mining Bureau, and officially put into production in June 1952. It is one of the key projects of the National First Five-Year Plan 156, the earliest important copper industrial base in New China and the cradle of copper industry in China. The company was originally an enterprise directly under the central government. After many changes, it was placed under the management of Anhui Provincial People's Government in July 2000 and directly supervised by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of Anhui Provincial People's Government. In May 2006, with the approval of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of Anhui Province, Tongling Nonferrous Metals (Group) Co., Ltd. was transformed into Tongling Nonferrous Metals Group Holding Co., Ltd. as a whole, and developed from a factory-based super-large enterprise into a modern corporate enterprise group that meets the requirements of modern enterprise system. The company has 7 wholly-owned subsidiaries and 15 holding subsidiaries.
The company has developed into a large state-owned enterprise group with non-ferrous metals (geology, mining, mineral processing, smelting and processing) as its core business, chemical industry and equipment manufacturing as its related businesses, and diversified development of geological exploration, scientific research and design, mine construction, logistics and transportation, real estate development and other related industries.
In 2007, the company achieved a sales income of 42 billion yuan and a total profit and tax of 3.3 billion yuan, ranking 135 among the top 500 Chinese enterprises in 2009.
