Battle of iwo jima
The Battle of Iwo Jima (English: Battle of Iwo Jima, Japanese: のぃ) was a battle between Japan and the United States in the Pacific War of World War II, which lasted from1February 945 19 to March 26. The Battle of Iwo Jima is one of the most fierce battles in the Pacific War. During this period, the Japanese army stubbornly adhered to Iwo Jima, but the American army finally occupied it after a bloody battle. In the battle, the American army suffered 28,686 casualties, and * * sacrificed 682 1 person. All Japanese troops were killed except 1.083 who were captured. Subsequently, the US military built the island into an airport for fighter planes and bombers to take off and land, which greatly enhanced the effect of strategic bombing of Japan's political, economic and industrial centers.
background
When Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, the Japanese army had a military base of nearly 3,800 people and a naval base of 1400 people in Guam. There are seaplanes, radio stations, weather stations, submarine chasers, mines and other ships. Iwo Jima has an airport with 20 fighter planes and 1500 navy. 1In February, 944, the US troops occupied the Marshall Islands, and the Japanese army strengthened its forces in Iwo Jima, with 5,000 troops, 13 guns, 200 light and heavy machine guns, 4,552 rifles, anti-aircraft guns 12 guns, 30 25 mm 2-gun anti-aircraft guns and 60 others. Iwo Jima and Ogasawara Islands have become the last line of defense to prevent American air strikes against Japan. Because at that time, Japan had lost the right to control the sea and the air.
1In April, 944, there were still 80 fighters stationed on Iwo Jima, but in July, 1944, only four fighters were left. When the US Navy came into view of Iwo Jima, a full-scale bombing destroyed all the buildings and the remaining four planes on Iwo Jima. However, the US military has not launched an attack on Iwo Jima. Iwo Jima has lost its air and sea support, and Japan has only ground troops to use.

The Pacific only has 10 episode, which took seven years to prepare and shoot, and the investment was as high as $223 million, making it the most expensive mini-drama in history. Tom Hanks, Spielberg and gary goetzman are co-producers. This is the first time that Hanks and Spielberg have co-produced a TV series after Brothers.
Based on two books, Wearing a Helmet for My Pillow and With Old Varieties, and some interviews, Pacific tells the story of three American marines in the Pacific Ocean from three different angles. Spielberg put forward the narrative method of "passing the ball by hand", which passed from one character to the next, and there was no intersection between them, just like three different movies. After the completion of the three scripts, Tom Hanks insisted on filming the 10 episode.
After the Pearl Harbor attack, the US Marine Corps and the Japanese launched a life-and-death battle. The play will truly present many famous battles in the history in which the First Division of the US Marine Corps participated, and finally successfully defeated Japan, and the soldiers embarked on a difficult road home.
Spielberg said that it is very challenging to reduce the war from 1 100 days to 10 hours, which restores the truth of the play to the greatest extent. One of the best places is not the war scene, but the soldiers. Screenwriter McKenna said that "Pacific" will focus on human nature, which will be the most violent 10 hour on TV.
