Harvest season of Jifu Asia Investment Company

People are used to evaluating the rise of a new generation of VC in China with the phrase "Looking back in five years". However, when we push forward five years from the end of 2006, we will find that Jifu had just entered China. At present, when the new generation of VC in China began to sow hard, Jifu has already ushered in the harvest season in China.

In March 2004, less than two years after investing 372 1, Yahoo bought 372 1 for $0.2 billion (the upper limit, the actual transaction price was more than $90 million). Gifford's actual investment income is about five times that of the initial investment. After two collections, Jifu Asia successfully withdrew from 372 1. So far, 372 1 is not only the first investment case of Jifu Asia Technology Fund in Chinese mainland, but also the first successful exit case of Jifu Asia in Chinese mainland.

From June 5438 to February 2004, Shenzhen-based Yulong Communication was listed on the main board of Hong Kong, thus becoming the first public offering (IPO) company in Jifu Asia's portfolio in Chinese mainland. In 2005, with the flow of personnel, Gifuya entered an adjustment period in China.

After nearly a year's adjustment, in 2006, the enterprises invested by Gifford in Chinese mainland seemed to have a good opportunity to quit. On June 5438- 10, 2006, Jifu, as the first round investor's investment, sold Beijing Dong Bo Technology to MediaTek; , a listed company in Taiwan Province Province, China. In the same month, Jifu, as a second-round investor, was sold to Siemens together with Guangqiao Technology, which was once considered as a difficult enterprise in Jifu's Asian portfolio.

On June 5438+065438+1October 14, 2006, Chen said in an email, "I am very happy to update you on three liquidity events about our portfolio companies." In addition to the above two mergers and acquisitions, what really excites Chen may be that the Suzhou-based Canadian solar company successfully landed on Nasdaq on June 9, 2006. This is from June 5438+065438+ 10, 2005. As the first round of * * * lead investor, Jifu led the Canadian solar energy company, just 1 year.

"We originally planned to invest in Wuxi Suntech, but we missed it." Chen and his Kifu Asia turned to look for other investment targets in the solar energy field. In addition to Canadian solar energy, in 2006, Jifu Asia also invested in a solar energy enterprise-LDK in Xinyu City, Jiangxi Province. Coincidentally, Canadian Solar and LDK are both enterprises located in second-and third-tier cities in China.

In fact, in addition to Canadian solar energy, in 2006, two other companies in Jifu Asia Greater China portfolio successfully landed on Nasdaq, namely Guoren Communication and Wonderland Optoelectronics. Guoren Communication was the first company in Shenzhen to successfully land on Nasdaq.
